Coach Ray's Baseball

The journey began in the spring of 2022 at the Play, Grow, Learn spring break camp. For the first time ever, some of the Rockwood youth experience the wonderful world of baseball. In January 2022, the Rockwood Youth Foundation was created to organize, manage, and fund a youth baseball league for the youth and families of Rockwood. For the following spring break, RYF again provided baseball activities for the PGL spring break campers. That summer, 2023, we began the Rockwood Summer Baseball Program. Evidence from this program proved that there is a major interest in Rockwood for youth baseball. A continued effort to encourage participation in baseball was motivated by the PGL's Monday and Wednesday Youth Activities Nights, combined with the annual Spring Break activities for the PGL Spring Break Campers. Last summer, 2024, the Hopscotch Foundation introduced Albina Baseball/Softball. The Hopscotch Foundation offered Rockwood opportunities to add teams to the youth league they had just established. Needless to say, we stumbled out of the blocks with minimal participation in the summer baseball program last summer.

YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL COACHES WANTED...
Games and practices will be held at Pat Pfeifer Park 424 NE 172nd Ave Portland, OR 97230
Starting June 24th through August 11th 2024
Mon-Sat: 5pm to 8pm M - F, and 10am to 5pm Sat
Opening Day is scheduled on Saturday, June 22nd, but can be rescheduled for June 29th. We'll continue to update you with any new information. We are still accumulating teams, so sign-ups are open for ages 5 to 16.

Reach out at [email protected] or go to our website rockwoodyouthfoundation.org and register as a coach or volunteer. Every little bit helps, any extra equipment lying around? Gloves, cleats, bats, catcher gear, helmets, etc... If it's usable, we'll use it.

Sign-ups for EXTRA INNINGS YOUTH BASEBALL @ Pat Pfeifer Park in Rockwood are officially underway. Rockwood residents can sign up at rockwoodyouthfoundation.org or for others in the different pod locations. They can sign up and register at www.hopscotchfoundation.com. June 1st will be the last day to sign up for Extra Innings Youth Baseball for Ages 7 - 12. We look to incorporate schools that want to create a team for the league.
