Naomi's Success: A Bright Future Ahead!
Great news! Thanks to the support of Global Roots donors, Naomi, the young Maasai girl we rescued from FGM in April, has been safely enrolled in boarding school. Without your help, she could have faced a different fate. Naomi is now free to pursue her dreams, and FGM ZERO will continue to monitor and protect her until she is at least 18 years old.

On April 1st, we rescued 15-year-old Naomi from the threat of Female Ge***al Mutilation. Her father intended to enforce this outlawed practice for dowry purposes. Naomi is now safe in our undisclosed location, and we're negotiating her entry into boarding school.

The FGM Zero team recently conducted an impactful outreach at Lolgorian, Narok County, engaging with young girls to foster motivation and reinforce the importance of education. Leaving the girls inspired to continue their educational journey, the team also provided guidance on reporting FGM threats, a practice still prevalent in their community.
In collaboration with the national and county government, we earnestly hope for the enforcement of strict measures to combat FGM, allowing human rights to thrive.
FGM Zero remains unwavering in its commitment to achieving a future with zero cases of FGM. Our goal is to create a community where every girl can flourish without the shadow of harmful practices.

FGM ZERO Team Update
April 6, 2021
The FGM ZERO team initiated a research effort to gauge the prevalence of FGM within the Maasai community of Kenya. The findings revealed that girls aged 10 to 15 face the highest risk, with a significant number having either undergone or being at risk of FGM.
This discovery underscores the urgent need to raise awareness among young girls about the dangers of FGM. Many remain unaware of their rights, and there's a concerning lack of information regarding the perils associated with this harmful practice.
