Has your ceiling fan been hiding secrets only fit for a true crime documentary?

If you think leaving the fan on keeps the room cool, here’s the plot twist: ceiling fans don’t actually lower the temperature. They move air, which may help you THINK you're cooler, but if nobody’s in the room, the fan is just spinning and using electricity.
So if the room is empty, turn it off. If comfort in your home still feels off, Atlantic HVAC can help figure out whether the real issue is airflow, insulation, or something happening in the HVAC system itself. Don't let your ceiling fan get the drop on you!

Turned the heat on and smelled something burning? Don't panic YET.

The first time you use your heat after months of air conditioning, a brief dusty or burning smell can be normal. Dust can settle on heating components during the warmer months and burn off when the system starts. The smell should fade fairly quickly. What you shouldn’t ignore is an odor that keeps coming back, smells electrical, gets stronger, or comes with smoke or unusual system behavior.

Early October is a great time to test your heat before the first genuinely chilly night arrives. If something doesn’t smell, sound, or feel right, Atlantic HVAC can check it out before you really need the system. Test it now. Not when everybody in the house is reaching for a blanket!

Think closing vents in unused rooms saves money? It can actually make your HVAC system work harder.

Your system is designed to move a certain amount of air through the house. Closing too many vents can increase pressure in the ductwork, reduce airflow, and make some rooms less comfortable instead of more efficient.

As September winds down and you start adjusting the thermostat more often, it is a good time to make sure vents are open, filters are clean, and airflow is not being blocked by furniture or rugs.

If your home still has hot spots, weak airflow, or rooms that never seem to match the thermostat, Atlantic HVAC can help figure out why.

Comfort should be balanced, not blocked.

YOUR THERMOSTAT SHOULDN’T NEED A PERSONALITY CHANGE EVERY SIX HOURS.
Late September can mean cool mornings, warm afternoons, and a lot of back-and-forth between “comfortable” and “why is it hot in here?”
Before you start constantly switching settings, pay attention to how your HVAC system is responding. Uneven temperatures, long run times, strange noises, or rooms that never seem comfortable can point to a system that needs attention.
Atlantic HVAC can help make sure your system is ready for the seasonal change ahead.
Because fall weather may be unpredictable. Your comfort shouldn’t be.

THE FIRST COOL NIGHT SHOULDN’T BE YOUR HEATING SYSTEM’S TEST RUN.

It may still feel like summer during the day in Savannah, but cooler evenings are coming. Before you need the heat, this is a good time to make sure your system is ready. A quick seasonal check can uncover dirty filters, worn components, thermostat issues, or other small problems before they turn into an inconvenient no-heat call.

Atlantic HVAC can help make the transition from cooling season to heating season a smooth one. If your system has been making unusual noises, struggling to maintain temperature, or simply hasn’t been checked in a while, now is the time to get ahead of it.

Stay comfortable without the last-minute scramble. Contact Atlantic HVAC to schedule your fall HVAC service and make sure your home is ready when Savannah finally decides it’s sweater weather.

Your AC can be cooling and still have a problem building.

In Savannah’s heat and humidity, a clogged condensate line can lead to water around the unit, musty odors, higher indoor humidity, or unexpected shutdowns.

If something looks, smells, or feels off, Atlantic HVAC can check it before a small drainage issue turns into a bigger repair.

Cool mornings don’t mean your AC is done working.

September in Savannah can be deceptive. The morning may feel comfortable, but by afternoon, the heat and humidity can return fast. Your HVAC system is still doing plenty of work.

Watch for small warning signs like:

✅ Longer run times
✅ Uneven cooling
✅ Higher indoor humidity
✅ Unusual noises
✅ A thermostat that can’t seem to keep up

Those little issues are easier to deal with before they become bigger problems.

If your system seems to be struggling with the late-summer heat, Atlantic HVAC can help make sure it’s ready for the seasonal transition ahead.
