Curious Carapace: Scarab Beetle Graphite Study - Practice your graphite skills! learn how to draw and render the shiny shell of a scarab beetle. Beautiful and thought to represent transformation, protection, and resurrection... powerful and maybe a little bit witchy feeling?

Hatch & Hex: Baba Yaga - Come for this relaxed bring-your-own-beer Paint and Sip. Baba Yaga is a mysterious witch-like figure from Slavic folklore, often depicted as an old woman who lives deep in the forest in a magical hut standing on chicken legs. Both frightening and fascinating, she can be dangerous, helpful, or something in between—often testing those who encounter her. Choose from a selection of prepared images to trace, and cross hatch them in to create value, texture and viiibes. 👻

Give your old glass and ceramic a second life and put them to good use! Got some old jars? Some flower vases that fall a bit flat? Some old w**e bottles you've been hanging onto for whatever reason?

In the sample seen here, this ceramic lamp was textured with salt-wash- even the shade was given a treatment.

The process involves a lot of layering and sanding. It's a great way to achieve that antique weathered look, or just add some chunky texture.

Come give it a try! Bring your own pieces to work on, or you can use one of ours. 😘

En plein air *(ahn plen air)* means “in the open air” 🌾and refers to the practice of painting outdoors, directly from the landscape or subject in front of you.

While artists have worked outdoors for centuries, plein-air painting became especially important in the 19th century as portable paint tubes and easels made it easier for artists to leave the studio. It became closely associated with the Impressionists, who wanted to capture changing light, color, weather, and atmosphere as they actually experienced them.
