Bank reconciliation doesn’t have to feel like math class.
Print your bank statement.
Grab 2 highlighters.
GREEN = Money In
PINK = Money Out
MIMO = Money In, Money Out.
Highlight every deposit in green.
Highlight every expense in pink.
Now you can literally SEE your cash flow — what’s coming in and what’s going out.
Next step: match it to your records and circle anything you don’t recognize.
That’s how you catch errors early.
👇🏽 Comment “MIMO” and I’ll send the Bank Reconciliation Checklist (PDF).

Section 179 is one of the most misunderstood write-offs.
It’s not “buy anything and write it off.”
It’s buy it, use it for business, and it must qualify.
Quick check:
✅ Business use over 50%
✅ Placed in service (you actually started using it)
✅ Keep receipts + proof
Tangible items are usually the main lane (equipment, computers, tools).
Some software may qualify if it’s off-the-shelf (not custom).
Vehicles can be tricky — especially heavy SUVs/trucks — keep documentation and don’t guess.
Operate like a business.

Profit First is simple: every dollar gets a job.
Instead of hoping there’s money left at the end, you assign it first:
Profit. Owner Pay. Tax. Operating.
Example on $1,000:
5% profit = $50
35% owner pay = $350
15% tax = $150
45% operating = $450
Percentages (%) give you clarity…and clarity gives you control.
👇🏽 Comment “PF” and I’ll send my starter Profit First percentage guide + tracker.

Stop mixing business and personal money.
Mixing makes your books messy, your taxes harder, and your decisions unclear.
Simple fix:
✅ separate bank account
✅ separate debit card
✅ separate billing email (keep A/R + A/P in one place)
Clean money = clean records.

Cash receipts fade.
Paper gets lost.
So make it digital:
📸 Take the picture
☁️ Store it in ONE place (Google Drive / iCloud / Dropbox / OneDrive)
🧾 Log it with DVC: Date. Vendor. Cost.
Example (DVC):
• 3/1/2026 — Wells Fargo — $500.00
• 2/28/2026 — QuickBooks — $150.00
• 2/15/2026 — FedEx Kinkos — $75.00
Small system. Big peace at tax time.

service-based entrepreneurs…
a deposit isn’t “extra”
it’s the filter
a deposit tells you what type of client you’re dealing with before you do the work
✅ if they send the deposit quick = you know where you stand
🚩 if they stall, argue, or make excuses = that’s your preview of the final payment
because if they’re slow to pay you before you start…
what makes you think they’ll be fast after you finish?
i learned this the hard way so you don’t have to
👇🏽 comment DEPOSIT and i’ll send you my simple deposit rule + wording you can copy/paste

as accountants, bookkeepers, and financial planners
we’re trusted with something deeply personal
money 💰
money isn’t just numbers
it’s time

who protects people from mistakes they’ll never see
who tells the truth even when it’s uncomfortable
and who understands trust is earned daily
