🎙️ We are incredibly proud to celebrate Teetotal Initiative’s Co-Founder & President, Jackie Slaugenhaupt, for her recent appearance on the Spill with Me Jenny D podcast with Jennifer DiLucia.
In this powerful and heartfelt conversation, Jackie shares her personal journey in recovery and the story behind how that experience ultimately led to the creation of Teetotal Initiative. What began as a deeply personal path toward healing and connection has grown into a movement that is helping thousands of people build meaningful, substance-free community right here in Pittsburgh and beyond.
Jackie speaks openly about something we believe deeply at Teetotal: connection is not optional in recovery, it’s essential. Her story beautifully captures why we created Teetotal Initiative in the first place: to combat loneliness, isolation, and boredom by building spaces where people can truly belong.
A huge thank you to Jenny D for creating such an authentic and thoughtful conversation, and to Jackie for continuing to share her story with honesty, courage, and heart. This is truly an incredible episode.
We encourage everyone to give it a listen 👇

Today is the final day of our 2026 campaign.
Teetotal Initiative exists for the moments that don’t get talked about enough.
The moments when isolation starts to feel heavy.
The times when staying sober feels harder than anyone expected.
The moments when someone is doing everything right but still feels alone.
The days when sobriety starts to feel like loss instead of possibility.
The loneliness no one sees.
The days when connection changes everything.
Every dollar donated today helps someone we may never meet get through one more sober day. It helps create spaces where connection replaces isolation and sobriety feels like something worth celebrating.
This work doesn’t happen without community support.
*If Teetotal Initiative has ever helped you feel less alone
*If you believe sobriety should include joy, creativity, and belonging
*If you want to help keep these spaces available for the next person who needs them
Please consider donating today. Truly, no amount is too small.

đź’¬ A Story We Needed You to Hear
We’ve spent the past month telling you about Teetotal Initiative. Today, we want you to hear directly from someone who reached out to us to share what this community has meant to them.
This is their voice:
“The opposite of addiction is not sobriety… it is connection.
Teetotal Initiative gave me a place to explore things I always wanted to do, but never did because addiction kept me isolated at home.
I kayaked on the Yough and jumped into the river afterward, laughing and yelling with joy. I made Japanese fish prints (gyotaku) using real fish and black ink on rice paper. I made homemade pasta with a relay team, cheering for each other until the pasta reached my station.
These experiences showed me what I could do — and more importantly, what I could do with others.
We heal in community.
Teetotal Initiative is a vital part of that healing — a community built on tolerance, kindness, and love.”
