This is the third oldest non-profit, volunteer rescue squad in New Jersey, and among the ten oldest Arbor Rescue Squad came to be in early April 1931.
On that day around noon Arbor Hose Company received a call to go to the Black Bridge for a drowning. This Lehigh Railroad Bridge is over New Market Pond between Washington Ave. and New Brunswick Ave. A brother (6) and sister (7) were at the center of this bridge when a train was heard coming. Please be advised as of 8pm today New Jersey has invoked a travel ban between the hours of 8pm to 5am. You should not leave your houses during these hours. Emergency Services will still be available. Do not be offended if any emergency services personnel approach you wearing respiratory protective equipment or ask a few questions prior to entering your house when calling 911.
Further, gatherings of over 50 people are banned. Essential businesses such as gas and supermarkets may be open later, however will vary. Casinos, restaurants, theaters, nightclubs, gyms and schools will remain close indefinitely. Some restaurants may still offer delivery and take out options.
Please remember things can change day to day, your local and state news agencies are good resources to stay up to date. Lastly, if you have not already signed up, you should for Swift911 Alerts (Piscataway) and Nixle Alerts (some surrounding communities) for updates via Police and OEM departments. They are free and amazing ways to stay up to date on public emergencies, road closures, and events in the communities.

The Arbor Rescue Squad will be the venue for Jerseycats Entertainment’s Comedy Show Sat. Jan. 18th. Doors open at 8:30pm, show starts at 9:30pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling (908) 405-7925. There will be a light buffet and after party.The event is BYOB (wine and beer only). Host will be Kareem Green and acts will include Will Wright, Nokio Smith, Rock, and headliner Marlon Randolph.

While out at Arbor Hose Co.'s Trunk or Treat Paramedic unit Mercy 6 stopped by to check out Car 9. Mercy 6 was the unit that responded to the Open Heart Surgery Call that happened in the back of Car 9. One of the medics even worked with Dr. Lipton who performed the surgery with a pocket knife of an Arbor EMT.
