4th Generation

My great grandfather Alva started the Cobler Sign Shop in 1932. He passed his love of the trade to his sons, Chuck, John and Joe (my grandfather). They covered many areas of the trade including gold gilding and neon blowing. They then passed the trade to their children and then I came along.

I loved spending time in the shop when we would go back to my hometown to visit. I would spend hours looking through the shop and staring at the sign magazines and letterforms my family members had hand crafted.

I spent ten years perfecting my skills in school. I took up graphic design in high school, continued with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from Arizona State University and finished with a Master of Art in Advertising with an emphasis in Art Direction and Account Planning.

I left school in 2009 at the height of the economic crash. Though I ended up beating out 500 candidates for a position at Young & Rubicam in San Fransisco and continued my education while working on household names such as 7Up, NCAA and more.
