πβ€οΈπ Throwback to Johnny Appleseed Day! πβ€οΈπ
We wrapped up last weekβs Spirit Week with Johnny Appleseed Day! Our Jags showed their spirit by wearing their best red and green! ππ
Kindergarten learns about Johnny Appleseed each year while exploring the stories and history surrounding the legendary figure known for planting apple trees across parts of the United States. π³π
And the learning doesnβt stop there! Kindergarten also brings apples into science as students examine and label the different parts of an apple ππ and learn about the apple life cycleβfrom seed to tree and eventually to a new apple! π±π³π
We love seeing our youngest Jags connect literacy, science, and hands-on learning! β€οΈπ
Thank you, Jags, for making another Spirit Week so much fun! We loved seeing your creativity, school spirit, and smiles all week long. πβ¨
Until next time for Spirit Days! β€οΈπ

πβ€οΈπ Stories, Smiles & Library Time! πβ€οΈπ
Library time is always a favorite at John Jacobs! πβ¨ Mrs. Abbasβ first graders enjoyed a special read-aloud with Mrs. Driver, getting lost in a story while building their love for books and reading. ππ
Being read to is about so much more than enjoying a good story! Research from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that shared reading helps build vocabulary, language and literacy skills, comprehension, attention, and social-emotional development. It also helps children develop positive connections with books and reading.
Thatβs why access to a library matters. Having a welcoming place filled with books gives students opportunities to explore new ideas, discover interests, find characters they connect with, and develop the joy of becoming lifelong readers. πβ¨
A big thank you to Mrs. Driver for making our library a place where our Jags can read, wonder, discover, and grow! β€οΈππ
