Prayer for the Pope

May the Lord preserve our Holy Father, give him a long life, make him blessed upon the earth, and may the lord not hand him over to the power of his enemies. May His hand be upon His holy servant, and upon the one whom He has anointed.

O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all the faithful, look down in Your mercy upon Your servant Francis, whom You have appointed to preside over Your Church. Grant, we implore you, that both by word and example, he may edify all those under his charge, so that, with the flock entrusted to him, he may arrive at length unto life everlasting.

In His divine wisdom, the Lord has called home His faithful servant one who led the Church with the heart of a shepherd, guided by mercy, humility, and steadfast devotion to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We give thanks to God for the gift of Pope Francis, his life and his papacy, who guided us with the tenderness of a father and the courage of a true disciple.

May the Lord grant him mercy and welcome him in His eternal Kingdom, and grant him rest in the peace of Christ.
