Hey everyone!

Shane here to state that we are elated to announce the release of our first full-length album, Saturnalia, via all of your favorite musical platforms December 9th!

The record will be completed by our final single from the concept, “The Last Gasp.”

Several years ago, a kernel of an idea began to rapidly expand into a concept for an album that would explore an array of musical styles, emotional themes, and varied perspectives. We wanted to approach the practice of writing differently, and we all feel that we have certainly done so. Saturnalia is a compendium of our darkest demons and greatest angels, and a triumph in the respect that a story about people falling apart managed to bring 5 individuals together in the most amazing ways.

“The Last Gasp” is appropriate as a title from several perspectives; it completes the album, concludes the concept (for now), and effectively marks a change in the band going forward.

I will be relocating to Portland, Oregon in the next few weeks. We are still determining what that means relative to my involvement with Damn going forward, but I wanted to take this opportunity to thank my bandmates for their creativity, ingenuity, passion and love for making music. I am so proud of this album, and all of the work we’ve done over the last 8 years. Being in this band has changed my life. I’ll miss you all immensely… but, as I’ve learned from years of chasing this particular dragon, you never know what tomorrow promises.

Our love, thanks and appreciation go out to all of you! You’re amazing, and we could not be more excited to finally share this completed work with you all! We’ll have a pre-save link soon– so get ready to FINALLY hear Saturnalia in its entirety… We think that it’s been worth the wait.

Because it features heavily in the lyrics, I want to say that I in no way wish to glorify or idealize self-harm. This song is about a breaking point that leads to new beginnings, and not su***de as an exit strategy. Please seek help if you are having suicidal thoughts, or engaging in self-destructive behaviors. You are a beautiful, worthy and inspirational person filled with promise - no matter your current circumstances.

This song has been rattling around in a cage for quite some time. We recorded it mere days before the lockdown in 2020... and there was a wealth of uncertainty, fear, resentment and loathing wrapped up in the emotions surrounding that time. However, the studio was a strange haven for me personally while everything transpired - and I feel that is absolutely reflected in the tone, energy, and ex*****on of this song. It is one of my favorites, and I am thrilled to finally get to share it with you all.

As existential, chaotic, frail and despondent as the lyrics are - I always saw the dialogue here as a reminder of the cycles we find ourselves in... every ending, in our estimation, is another inciting incident for a new journey - a new set of possibilities. A domino falling that precipitates a chain reaction... and there's an excitement and promise in that moment, despite the havoc and destruction we see in our circumstances. We'll never know what those events lead to if we remove ourselves from the equation; stay the course. Keep getting up. Self-harm changes nothing... it only sabotages any opportunity for good things to happen in the future. You deserve to see the design the chaos creates when all the dominos are down. You owe that to yourself. Thank you for being brave.
