Thomas Jefferson died at Monticello in Virginia.

John Adams died at his home in Quincy, Massachusetts, just a few hours later.

Adams' reported last words were, "Thomas Jefferson survives." Ironically, Jefferson had actually died earlier that same day, though Adams didn't know it.
