Rebuild trust, deepen intimacy, and rediscover the bond you thought was lost.

I often talk with clients about the importance of creating environments that foster connection, predictability, and emotional well-being. One often overlooked source of joy and stability? Our relationships with our dogs.

Training isn't just about obedience—it's about communication, trust, and strengthening the bond you share with your pet. Positive interactions with our dogs can boost dopamine, reinforce feelings of connection, and create a greater sense of peace and confidence within the home. Consistent training also provides structure, which benefits both humans and animals alike.

If you're looking for a compassionate and effective dog training experience, I highly recommend Fit Dog Training with Elisa Finer Levenbaum serving the Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Cave Creek areas. Investing in your dog's growth is also an investment in your family's well-being. The result is often more than a well-trained dog—it's a calmer home, a deeper relationship, and more moments of joy together.

An open letter to my couples getting married soon:

As you prepare to exchange your vows next week, my hope for you is that you continue to be a safe haven and secure base for one another. May you always find the courage to turn toward each other with openness, compassion, and curiosity—especially in life's more challenging moments. The love you've nurtured and the bond you've strengthened are beautiful foundations for marriage. As you begin this new chapter, may Hold Me Tight serve as a reminder that the deepest strength in a relationship comes from reaching for one another and knowing that, no matter what, you are not alone. Wishing you a lifetime of connection, laughter, and enduring love.

The Sacred Space of the Therapy Room: My Reflection on Witnessing Change
In the quiet of the therapy room, there is a unique kind of beauty found in the "mess." As a therapist, I am often asked what it’s like to sit with people in their most difficult moments—their deepest heartaches, their rawest emotions, and their most vulnerable desires. The truth is, I love it.
There is a profound, almost sacred privilege in being invited into a client's internal world. To witness the months of emotional and mental labor that go into true transformation is nothing short of awe-inspiring. I am constantly amazed by the resilience of the human spirit and what individuals are capable of when they commit to the demanding, often uncomfortable work of healing.
While my clinical focus is always entirely on the person sitting across from me, there is a side of the process that often goes unspoken: how this work changes me.
Clients may not always realize that their journey facilitates my own growth—not just as a clinician, but as a human being. Every day, I am bolstered by the bravery I see. I am encouraged by the risks my clients take—the courageous leaps into honesty with themselves and the difficult, necessary conversations they initiate with their loved ones.
Walking alongside someone as they navigate their path toward healing is an immense honor. To be even a small part of that process is a gift that leaves me more hopeful, more empathetic, and deeply grateful for the work I get to do every day.

As we step into the New Year, remember that "starting fresh" doesn’t have to mean reinventing who you are. Instead of setting high-pressure resolutions, try shifting your focus toward intentionality and self-compassion. Consider starting small: swap a rigid goal for a "theme" for the year (like balance or courage), or commit to five minutes of daily mindfulness. True growth isn't about a sudden overhaul; it’s about the sustainable, healthy habits that honor your mental well-being every single day. Here’s to a year of moving at your own pace and celebrating your progress, no matter how small. 🥂✨

Here's me with a highland cow in the Scottish countryside. Happy Friday!
Ever heard the term- paralysis by analysis?
Not every feeling needs a full analysis. Not every interaction is a sign. Sometimes an awkward moment is just… an awkward moment. As a psychologist, I remind my clients (and myself) that not everything has to be that deep.
Give yourself permission to let small things stay small. Your nervous system will thank you.

Wandering through the Fairy Pools in Scotland reminded me how important it is to pause and let life flow. These pools form naturally—streams of water carving their way through rock over centuries. They don’t rush, yet they always find their path forward.

In therapy (and in life), progress can feel slow, but movement is happening even when we can’t see it clearly. Sometimes the most healing moments come when we stop pushing and simply allow space to reflect, breathe, and notice where the current is taking us.

💭 Therapeutic tip: Next time you feel stuck, imagine yourself as water—persistent, adaptable, and capable of finding a way forward, one gentle ripple at a time.
