The Smithsonian Academy Orchestra brings together young musicians specializing in early music to perform works on period instruments under the direction of Kennth Slowik.
Due to weather, SAO has decided to cancel our concert in Philadelphia! We're sad to end the tour early! Keep a look out for upcoming concerts in March!

Founded in 2024 by conductor Kenneth Slowik, the Smithsonian Academy Orchestra is a resident ensemble of the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society, a program of the National Museum of American History. The Orchestra’s repertoire ranges from Bach to Schoenberg, all performed on period-appropriate instruments. Hear them perform Haydn’s Symphony No. 95 and Beethoven’s Symphony No.3, the Eroica, on tour Sept 24-28! SAO concerts are free and open to the public due to the generous support of The Honorable John F. W. Rogers and Goldman Sachs.
