Transfer VIII
Deconstructed Polaroid, gouache, and charcoal on paper mounted to aluminum
This series of images with Lucian, in both paint and photo, was created to talk about how he holds space for his parents (conscious or not)… as a first child. The chrysanthemums are his Brother’s birth flower.

My muse eye studies are small paintings I create during limited windows of time - usually during my children’s naps. I use canvas from old paintings, tearing them into strips and then further down into squares and rectangles. The eyes are from endless inspiring women who have allowed me to fawn over them... also known as my muses.
These pieces are a huge part of both my creativity and my motherhood. They help me remain active when I most need it, but cannot carve large amounts of studio time into my day. I love sharing these every few years and hope, if you so choose to purchase one, it helps inspire you to find tiny moments for yourself.
All are oil on canvas. 2/10 s0ld in the preview this morning. Fully live around noon. Blink will be in lio. ;)

I want to write about my failures.
I want to share small unfashionable glimpses into my studio practice.
I want to discuss the affects of my last baby’s third birthday on my heart and my work.
I want a safe non-judgmental home for my tastes and distastes.
I want messy.
I want long form discussions on palettes, brushes, and mediums.
I want to recommend the books I’m reading - most of them at least.
I want to rip my process apart and share it.
I want comfort in expression.
I want freedom from an algorithm.
I want to teach again - but on my own terms.
I want a space rid of billionaires stealing my hard work and self expression for a machine’s creativity.

You can’t know why a favorite piece doesn’t sell sometimes… until it finds its perfect home and owner.
I am thrilled that “Care of This Country” has been acquired - literally no better collector/friend/mother for it to be with.
Getting to personally deliver and see it hung was a highlight of the year. 🥀

All Small Wonders pieces will be making their way to new homes. I’m so honored to be part of your collections. The work I’ve been making the last few years is so extraordinarily meaningful to me… it feels beautiful to connect with others, once again, through my work.
“Selling out” a grouping of work doesn’t ever mean the work is better than others that didn’t… but it does mean something resonated more. Perhaps art fans are finally learning the “me” that’s blossomed (pun intended) since 2017. It’s giving me a profound hope of feeling understood… perhaps for the first time ever. I’m no longer masking (pun also intended) like I did before.
Grateful. 🥀🖤

If youve ever been in a place of fog or hardship or depression… and yet found beauty, reflection, hope, and color in that dark space… these new pieces are that.
My petal works are for remembrance. They’re to honor the deeply poetic during the difficult. They’re to honor the color that kept you pushing forward.

This piece (not yet varnished or in her finished glory) will be at next month for Small Wonders.
