On Monday, September 28, 2026, the Community Development Partnership hosted the Annual CDP Banquet at the Neshoba County Coliseum.
The evening began with a delicious buffet-style meal catered by our local Chamber restaurants including Bloomo Diner, City Limits Seafood & Steaks, CrisMont Creations, The Grindhouse MS Coffee Shop, McAlister’s Deli, Old Mexico, and Tootie’s Country Buffet.
Dana McLain, 2025-2026 CDP Board Chairwoman, offered the official welcome and Reverend Chris Vowell provided the invocation. Neshoba Central JROTC presented the colors and the NCMS Chorus sang the National Anthem.
Incoming CDP President David Alexander provided opening remarks and introduced the evening’s program, which included the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr. David Vowell for his over 25 years of service and leadership as President of the Community Development Partnership. Guests enjoyed a video tribute recognizing Mr. Vowell’s impact and the various projects he played a vital role in developing.
Representatives from Congressmen Michael Guest’s office and from U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith’s office each read letters recognizing Mr. Vowell’s years of dedication. State Representative C. Scott Bounds and Senator Lane Taylor delivered remarks thanking David for his years of commitment. MBCI Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben also shared remarks and gifted a pair of stickball sticks to Mr. Vowell as a show of gratitude for the partnership. City of Philadelphia Mayor Jim Fulton presented David with an honorary key to the city and Neshoba County Administrator Jeff Mayo presented a County Resolution honoring David Vowell for his years of service and leadership.
The Wesley House of Philadelphia was presented with the Small Business of the Year Award. Executive Director Brandy Rea accepted the award and offered remarks about the Christian non-profit’s child advocacy and sexual assault crisis services.
The New York Blower Company (NYB) received the award for Large Business of the Year. Tim Daniels, Vice President of Finance & Human Resources for New York Blower, accepted the award on behalf of the company. NYB expanded their kiln system manufacturing operations to Philadelphia in 2022 and have since created more than 50 new jobs.
Mattie Hudson was recognized as the Citizen of the Year for her commitment to serving the community. As a local business owner (Mattie Hudson State Farm Insurance), Mattie also dedicates her time to serve on various advisory boards, actively volunteer in numerous community organizations, and sponsor initiatives that support the community.
Congratulations to Wesley House, The New York Blower Company, and Mattie Hudson for your well-earned awards, and we wish our outgoing CDP President Mr. David Vowell all the best as he enjoys retirement!
