Mailbag Monday!
Q: I've asked other authors this, but was wondering about whether you ever insert any hidden meanings in your books?
A: Not usually. If it's "what did the author really mean when he said the curtains are brown?"... it's just because the curtains were brown! I don't do hidden meanings, and I don't try to make broad political statements buried beneath something. I just try to write a good story and let it unfold however it does. So if anyone ever says that I'm making a statement about whatever the hot topic is with whatever book it is, you can point them to this and say I do not. Write a good story and that's it.
Mailbag Monday!
Q: Do you have any other crossovers planned (Other than Thrower/Silencer, which I know happens sometimes)?
A: Well, the Silencer team will continue to show up in Thrower books from time to time. Other than that, no definite plans. I will share that I have had a few ideas (though nothing concrete), of having a Silencer/Bodyguard/Eliminator book, as well as having Brett Jacobs (Eliminator) show up in a future Thrower book as well, since they already know each other. But again, those are just thoughts and don't really have specific plans for it. We'll see how it goes!
Going to start a new thing every week. Mailbag Monday! Every Monday, I'll answer a question I've received and post it here.
This week's: What's your favorite side character that you've written?
That's a tough one. And definition of a side character will differ for some people. For this question, I don't consider characters like Jones, Haley, Nicole side characters. They're not the top main characters in their books, but they're still main characters. At least for me. So with that in mind, I'd say my favorite side character (with my definition of such) is probably Eddie Franks. If you don't know him, you haven't read The Eliminator Series. He was just a blast for me to write because you never knew what was going to come out of his mouth, and some of it didn't make any sense, but that was the fun of it. And he was never planned. Certainly not as a series mainstay. He just appeared in the first book and never left. Couldn't get rid of him. But I really enjoyed writing that character. Probably the top for me.

We started changing covers on The Eliminator Series. I think it gives a better vibe for the series. First 6 are now done!
Wanted to give a quick update on everything I'm working on at the moment. Some of these are farther away than others. Current series are more of a priority than newer books/series.
- Due Process (Silencer 26) - about 13,000 words into this. Should be released in December.
- Dead Reckoning (Extractor 14) - Waiting for the cover, but otherwise finished. Will be released within the next month.
- No Turning Back (Thrower 9) - Finished. Will be released in July.
- Invisible Threat (Holt 5) - Finished. Will be released in May/June.
- Nick Spade 1 & 2 - Private Investigator series. Both books finished. It is being shopped around to agents and publishers over the next few months. If I don't get favorable terms, I will publish on my own.
- The Killing Code - about 32,000 words in. About a Russian spy who is being used to draw her American father out of the shadows.
- This Gun For Hire (Jake Danton)- about 4,000 words in. A hitman out for revenge.
- The Executioner (Cade Beckett) - about 4,000 words in. A former operator is lured back into the business by a private firm to take out the worst humanity has to offer.
- Unnamed Standalone - about 18,000 words in. About a woman who uncovers something she shouldn't and wanders into the arms of a retired operative.
These are the things I'm currently working on. I've got 3 other books/series I've started, just a couple thousand words in, but I haven't worked on them in months as the books I've mentioned above have passed them on my interest scale.

So my ebooks are now starting to show up on Bookshop, which if you're not aware, supports local bookstores. Up until now, they've been focused on print, but are now beginning to sell ebooks. So check them out if you haven't already.

These are the types of scammer messages I get every day. Why did no one tell me I wrote a book called Pink Tuxedo?! I wonder what it was about? That amnesia comes and goes!
Hi Mike,
As I was reading about Pink Tuxedo, I noticed it sits in an interesting space between Thriller and Suspense, which isn’t something you see done lightly.
I was curious, did you set out to write it that way from the beginning, or did it naturally evolve as the story took shape?
Just a small question. No pressure to reply if now isn’t a good time.
Warm regards,
Susan
