Nutritional Development Services

There are more than 40 food pantries supported by Catholic Charities of Philadelphia through Nutritional Development Services across Greater Philadelphia, and 30 of them are open to the public. Use this guide as a resource to help our neighbors in need find food assistance near them.

Our Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive is still going strong, thanks to schools like Maternity BVM School! Contact us to schedule a pickup of your PB&J so we can distribute it among our food cupboards. Drive runs through 10/17!

Today is Hunger Action Day!

Although is wrapping up, there are many ways to take action against food insecurity year-round. For example, consider hosting a food drive with your community organization! Food drives are a simple way to make a large impact on neighbors in need. Contact NDS to participate in one of our drives by collecting donations. When the drive is complete, NDS will pick up and distribute your donations to food cupboards throughout the Archdiocese.

Huge thank you to St Jude School in Chalfont for their thoughtful generosity! These snack bags will be redistributed to food pantries and shelters throughout five counties. We love to see service performed with love!

NDS had a blast at Strawberry Mansion Day this past Saturday! We made parfaits, distributed fresh fruit, and sent folks home with strawberry-themed goodies. It was a pleasure to connect with our community partners and to celebrate the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood!

September 22nd officially marks the first day of fall, or the autumnal equinox, in the Northern Hemisphere. To celebrate, this , we are sharing a fall-themed recipe that is quick and easy to make for dinner or to meal prep for the week. This vegetable soup can be combined with pork, turkey, or chicken, and is packed with protein, making it both filling and nutritious. It's time for our annual PLACEMAT CONTEST!

A few guidelines:
-Students should be from schools that currently receive NDS meals
-Entries should be done by hand with black pen or marker on white 8.5 x 11" paper
-Include student's name, grade and school on back of design
-Entries are due to the NDS office (1601 Cherry Street, Phila, PA 19102) by 10/9

On Friday, our Community Food Program got a new home! We moved into a safer and more spacious warehouse in Delaware County, which will allow us to receive, store and deliver food much more efficiently.
