We love clients with a strong vision. So, when the homeowners of our latest project , asked for a red kitchen filled with antique furniture and charming details, we were excited.

How did we tackle designing a red kitchen that doesn’t feel overwhelming and garish?

We wrapped the space in warm neutrals, created contrast with dark soapstone counters, and added brass accents for a classic touch. New stained wood doors and painted windows help anchor the vintage vibe while the corner dining nook adds cozy comfort.

Introducing our latest project, .

This corner banquette sits in what used to be the entire kitchen! We reworked the layout and moved the new kitchen into a large formal dining room. Our sweet clients, Pete and Jen loved the idea of moving the dining space into a cozy corner.
The custom banquette, upholstered by , has quickly become everyone’s favorite spot, including Levon (the cute dog baby). 🐾

We’ll be sharing the full kitchen renovation soon!

We consider every fixture, finish, and appliance as part of a kitchen’s overall composition. Modern amenities can complement the architecture, especially in a historic home. A paneled refrigerator can disappear into the cabinetry, while a statement range can anchor the room’s color palette.

Mixing patterns and textures is a fun way to add color and personality to your space. So, how do we make pattern mixing feel luxe and not kooky?

1) First, we use 3D renderings to consider the scale, color, and placement of each pattern.

2) Then, we order material samples to ensure the patterns will work harmoniously.

3) Our designs are inspired by historic detailing, so even modern patterns and materials feel classic and timeless.

In the greater Philadelphia area, Victorian and Federal style interiors embraced dusty blues, warm creams, earthy reds, and saturated yellows to highlight millwork, cabinetry, and architectural details.

Many of these colors can still be seen in preserved historic interiors today. The rich green room at Powel House, the historic blues at Hiester House and Strawberry Mansion, and the yellow and blue interiors at Grumblethorpe all reflect the longstanding use of color throughout Philadelphia’s architectural history.

Historic color palettes continue to inspire both our designs in Philadelphia homes and the paint colors featured throughout our cabinetry line.

In this home, the kitchen was originally located in the basement, connected by stairs to a butler’s pantry and a large dining room above. Multiple stairs met on landings in between floors which wasted space and created complicated engineering for their removal.

Our design brings the kitchen to the first floor, removes two staircases, and combines the dining room and butlers pantry to create a big kitchen with a cozy banquette in the front window. Furnishings, cushions, and window coverings create a layered and colorful space. What is your favorite detail?

Open shelving can make a kitchen feel lighter, more open, and more personal when used intentionally.
The best shelves usually hold the things you use every day. If you place the things you rarely use but want to display beautifully, just be mindful of dust accumulation.
