You don’t need to be a mom to treat yourself today. But yes, I was given the morning off so I could eat all of these.

Emojis for bakers. What am I missing??
Thanks to for the inspo 👏
A bakery owner shouldn’t have to figure out marketing alone.
Not when you’re already up at 5am, managing staff, fielding catering requests, and trying to keep Saturdays from being the only good day of the week.
That’s what the new Donut Digest website is built around: not what I do, but what you’re dealing with.
Most bakery and coffee shop owners I talk to know they need help to grow their business, they just don’t know what to fix first.
On the new site, you’ll find a clear breakdown of how customers actually find, choose, and come back to a bakery. A free guide to start with. A quick intake form if you want a set of outside eyes on your business.
No hard sell. No overwhelming list of services. Just a clear next step.

P.S. If you’ve been following along for a while, I’d genuinely love to know what resonates when you land there. Drop a comment or send me a DM!

Social media isn’t useless. It’s that posting feels like “marketing”…and everything else feels like homework.
Posting is the part everyone sees. The part that pays you is invisible.
Nobody shares your email newsletter on their IG story. Nobody comments “love this” on your order page.
But a hungry person searching at 8am finds your Google Business Profile. A regular gets your email and comes in on a slow Tuesday. A first-time visitor lands on your website and actually knows how to order.
Unglamorous. Unsexy. Effective.
The visible stuff builds awareness. The invisible stuff builds your business.
I write about the invisible stuff every week. The infrastructure and systems that really move money in your bakery.

Think reviews are just about stars?
There are actually 4 review layers that impact whether your bakery shows up when people search online:
⭐ Star rating (aim for 4.0+ average rating to appear in “best” searches)
🔢 Volume (keep up with competitors)
⏰ Recency (fresh reviews matter a lot to Google)
📸 Details (text + photos = visibility in search)
Pay attention to this last category.
AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini are pulling phrases straight from reviews like: “gooey cinnamon rolls that always taste fresh” or “cozy café with free WiFi.”
The more context customers provide about the food, the experience, or the shop vibes, the better chance AI recommends you.
Comment REVIEWS and I’ll send you a link to my full playbook to get more reviews and turn feedback into growth.
If your revenue depends only on what sells in your pastry case each morning, you’re riding the feast-or-famine rollercoaster.
Here’s the shift I’m seeing with smart bakery owners right now👇
They’re not just selling food products…
They’re building community experiences that require authenticity and consistency. Over time, these efforts naturally lead to sponsorships, collabs, and bigger orders (hello, catering 👀).
Here are 3 underrated ways to make money outside of retail sales, whether you’re a storefront, cottage baker, or pop-up:
🏠 Apartment cafés and private gatherings ( is the OG)
👤 Dining with strangers (check out solo ticket events from and .cafe)
🧑💻 Blogging 2.0: monetized newsletter platforms via Substack and Beehiiv ( and do it right!)
