Kittens are adorable, but senior cats have a special kind of love to give. They just want a cozy home and a family to spend their golden years with. Giving an older cat a second chance is one of the most beautiful things pet parents can do. 🥺🐾

Owner dies leaving 40+ friendly cats desperate for foster and/or adoption.
The owner of 20-50 cats, died two weeks ago, according to his landlord, and these cats, all indoor, friendly and dependent on humans, are now wandering in Manayunk, starved, scared, begging and following people. None of these cats are fixed. These cats are used to regular meals and a shelter over their heads. The crowds of cats outside are only those that have left the house. We fear that there may be many kittens and nursing moms or feral, elderly cats inside. The landlord of this house has reportedly called ACCT and the PSPA about this situation and neither agency has responded to his calls for help.
People are coming to feed and some have also taken cats. Sunday morning (5/31), 12 cats were trapped and scheduled for surgery, vaccination, flea treatment and testing at Forgotten Cats throughTheCatCollaborative (TCC). TCC has started a GoFundMe to cover the enormous cost of this initiative. BCR was on site to help these cats.
I have interacted with every cat during clinic set up, and every cat trapped is friendly but scared. They appear youngish and are in good shape. Of the 12 trapped Sunday (2 pregnant females were trapped on Saturday), eleven were male and only one female. They are primarily orange or orange and white.
As of Tuesday 6/2, these 14 cats will need somewhere to recover; BRC will be working with TCC to help find these cats foster and adoptive homes. Please see the videos showing the dire situation that these cats now find themselves in and the rush to access food during the trapping. Please share this plea with your friends, family, neighbors, relatives, co-workers. If you or anyone you know could foster one of these cats for even a month, it would allow time to devise a long-term plan.
Please message, email or text BCR if you are able to foster/adopt. All applicants will be vetted.
Thank you Brenda

Lexi can count herself as one of those lucky cats whose diabetes went into remission! Lexi no longer needs daily insulin or monitoring. Though, she'll have to watch her diet, and can no longer eat carbs or dry kibble foods; only wet pate for her.
Congratulations, Lexi! You were the best patient throughout treatment and are so deserving of this accomplishment.

We're taking applications for Pebbles & Poppy now, who will be available on June 20th!
This dynamic duo is full of love, curiosity, sweetness & joy. Despite being found in a trash can with several others, they are charming, playful, endearing and epitomize all that makes a kitten so special! They are active and curious, love chasing ribbons and each other but settle down quietly in their foster mom's lap or arms for love and comfort.

BCR wants to recognize and thank PawPath Consulting (a free consulting company with whom BCR has been working with for the past seven weeks). PawPath was founded and is run by two high school students who love animals and want to help Rescues by providing personalized social media, organization and funding strategies. Thank you to Eliza and Ethan for their talent, time, energy & patience! This dynamic duo kept Brenda busy meeting and strategizing while they created fabulous templates and focused social media postings weekly. They enlisted a fellow student, Amelia, who also did a great job, as lead “social marketing manager” and posted cats twice weekly! It has been a pleasure working with these outstanding students who are philanthropic, talented and an huge asset to the community.

Meet our newest rescues: Lexi and Mia!
Lexi was a stray that was found trying to get into a neighbors house during a snow storm. She is loves attention and is good with dogs and children!
Mia couldn’t travel with her family when they relocated. She has always been a solo cat and likes a quieter environment, and would make a sweet companion!
