Raised in Philadelphia, Kalila Jones (born 2001) became enamored of the city’s arts and culture at a young age. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fiber and Material Studies with a concentration in Art Education at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art & Architecture in Philadelphia, PA, in May 2024. Through their practice as a studio artist and educator, Jones has explored how to integrate their love of fibers into the legacy of the Philadelphia art scene. She has shown work at various Philadelphia cultural landmarks, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art (July-September 2024), The Fabric Workshop & Museum (August 2024), Taller Puertorriqueno (March-May 2025), & The Colored Girls Museum (May 2025-February 2026). In January 2026, Jones joined Muse gallery in Old City.

This summer Kalila is most excited to dye yarn, screenprint, and create textile based artworks. Follow Kalila’s page & join their newsletter on artbykalilaj.com for updates about her experience as a fob!

Seth Akgün is a photographer and printmaker who recently graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Reflecting on childhood experiences growing up between İstanbul and Abu Dhabi before moving to the United States at 9 years old, his work employs various methods of visual interference to explore themes of fragmentation and dislocation between body and identity. Working in analog photography and printmaking allows for slow and methodical meditation on process, which in turn helps untangle and map out points where his body and identity converge and part ways. Various shapes, tones, and gestures in his work overlap to embody the physical manifestation of repetitive and continuing bodily and environmental displacement. After graduating from his BFA program, Seth’s excited to combine old techniques and explore new processes to expand his printmaking practice at Second State Press.
