Coraline Update! ❤️‍🩹

We’re so happy to share that Coraline’s surgery went wonderfully! Her pre-op bloodwork showed only mild anemia, which Dr. Taney believes may be related to the parasites she’s still being treated for. Her FIV/FeLV test was thankfully negative again. Most importantly, the nerves controlling her bladder and bowel function were able to be fully preserved, so Coraline remains completely continent!🥹❤️

She has quite the scar for now, and her non-dissolvable stitches will be removed in 10–14 days. We also had her spayed while she was already under anesthesia so she wouldn’t need another surgery and recovery later! She’ll be on pain medication, Clavamox, and an anti-inflammatory while she heals.

Her final visit came to $2,080, compared to the original $1,600 surgery estimate. Bloodwork, fluids, her spay, medications, and additional care added to the total. Thanks to everyone who donated, half was covered through our medical fund, and the other half came from our adoption fees!🥲 We truly couldn’t have done this without our adopters and donors!!❤️

Coraline made it through surgery, she’s continent, and she’s on the road to recovery!🐾❤️

SIX WEEKS OLD. 🥹 How?! These babies are growing so fast and they are having the absolute TIME OF THEIR LIVES over here!!They’re weaning very well, they’re almost perfecting their litter box habits (keyword: almost 😂), and they spend their days playing, wrestling, chasing each other around and finding new ways to keep me and themselves entertained.😹🐾 They are seriously the happiest, healthiest little babies and I’m having SO much fun watching their personalities come out! 🥹💗

And mama Duchess!!!💘 She gets sweeter by the day. This girl who was once so nervous and unsure of me now LOVES being pet, loves chatting with me, and has even become a total snuggle bug! Watching her realize that she’s safe and loved has been one of my favorite parts of this whole journey! 🥺💕

Everyone is happy, healthy and thriving, and I couldn’t be more obsessed with this little family! 🐾💕

On Tuesday, Coraline will be having her tail amputation surgery with Dr. Taney and the specialist coming to Epic to help with her case. After everything this little girl has already been through, I just want to get her through this surgery and finally give her a chance to heal and move on to the easy part: being a spoiled kitten!🥰

Let’s get our special girl fully funded before Tuesday!❤️🐾

It’s been a little while since I’ve highlighted our sweet Mimi, and honestly, I think it’s time we remind everyone that this girl is still waiting for her person. 🤍

Mimi can be a little shy when new people come into her space, especially during meet & greets. She isn’t the kitten who is immediately going to run up to a stranger and demand attention. And I’ve realized she needs someone who thinks that’s okay. 🥹 Because once Mimi has a minute to take everything in and decide that you’re safe… you get to see the REAL Mimi!

She is so sweet. So affectionate. So gentle. She loves attention and absolutely wants to be your little friend 🥹 she just needs someone willing to give her the time to get there. 🥹💕

And lately, I’ve watched her make SO much progress! Instead of immediately hiding when someone new comes in, Mimi has started coming out to investigate after just a couple of minutes! She’s learning that new people aren’t scary, and it makes my heart so happy to watch her confidence grow. 🥹🤍

I think Mimi would absolutely thrive in a quieter home where she can have the space to settle in at her own pace. She may also do especially well with one other friendly, respectful cat rather than a really busy household.

Mimi doesn’t need someone who expects her to be the most outgoing kitten in the room. She needs someone who sees the sweet, affectionate girl underneath that initial shyness and says, “I can wait for you.” 🤍

Cherry 🩶🍒

CHERRY IS OFFICIALLY READY FOR ADOPTION!!!🍒🩶

After months and months of isolation, parasite treatments, diarrhea, f***l rechecks, and everything in between… CHERRY IS FINALLY CLEAR OF PARASITES!!! 😭❤️

This girl has spent about THREE MONTHS in isolation since she was found being sold all alone, and she has been SO incredibly patient through all of it. She has watched kitten after kitten come and go while she waited for her turn. And now her turn is FINALLY here!!🥹🩶

And if you’re wondering what kind of cat Cherry is… she is basically the sweetest little lovebug you could possibly meet! The second I walk into the room, she starts chirping and trilling at me like she has a whole story to tell. She LOVES making biscuits, she is an absolute professional snuggler, and she will happily be held and loved on as long as you’ll let her. And her PURR?! She is such a loud purrer that you can hear her practically vibrating when she’s happy!😂 She also LOVES other cats. After spending so much of her life alone and then being stuck in isolation for the last three months, I would absolutely love to see Cherry go to a home with another friend from here, or a home with an existing friendly cat or even two, so she can finally have the feline buddies she’s been missing!🥺

Cherry has waited long enough. She deserves a home where she can spend her days following her people around, making biscuits, yelling little chirpy conversations, purring her heart out, playing with her cat friends, and being spoiled exactly like she should be! She is SO ready!! 🩶🐾

Coraline’s 1 inch tail is so peculiar that it brought 4 vets and a specialist on the phone today.

As cute and silly a stumpy tail can be, we’re laughing so we don’t cry. Every vet who has seen Coraline has noted two things: she is at risk of battling infections throughout her life if she keeps it or she is at risk of losing control of her bowels if it is amputated. That is not the quality of life I want for her. Today, Dr. Taney was able to connect me to a specialist that was one of his own mentors, and she is confident she can operate on Coraline’s tail safely.

You don’t have to be a vet to see from the xray that something is really bizarre.

In this case, bizarre also means $1600 to operate. On Tuesday, September 29.

She could enjoy peak spooky season with this chapter of her life behind her. 🥹🎃

But in all honesty, I am scared.

I don’t want to get to the point where we finally have the right doctors, the right plan, and the surgery she needs… and not have the money to do it. Every extra delay means more discomfort, risking infection, more time living with a problem we now know can be solved. And I worry about what is doing to Coraline beyond just the physical pain. Coraline is such a sweet girl. You can see it when she isn’t hurting. I want her to learn that people mean love, cuddles, safety, a warm bed, not wound care and frequent vet visits. Without her pain medication, she cries from discomfort.

I want this surgery to be the beginning of a completely different life for her. I want her tail problems to be truly behind her. I’m working on some fundraisers where supporters will be able to donate a small amount for a chance to win prizes, but those are still being put together.
