It's always humbling to be included in a list of such inspiring artmakers in Philly. We are proud to share that we are a 2025 Art and Culture Grantee! Thank you, π
Producing new music is always a messy and unpredictable endeavor, but this support makes it possible for us to continue to ask questions and explore new possibilities. We can't wait to share our next project to you!

This month, you'll notice that we're going to be adding another element to our library performances - visual art! Librettist Cecil Castellucci commissioned Pia Guerra to create three pieces to accompany the premiere of "Touching the Sun." We almost shared one of them here, but we'd rather you experience it all in person first! For more info and to register, visit enaensemble.org/january
ABOUT PIA: Pia Guerra is an award winning illustrator who has worked in multiple fields including comics (Y The Last Man, Black Canary, Hellblazer), editorial and gag cartoons, book illustration, storyboarding, animation, poster and set design. Her work has appeared in the Washington Post, The New York Times, MAD and The New Yorker Magazine. She likes reading about astronauts.

Just taking some time to loudly proclaim something that has been pretty obvious to us, and maybe some of you have noticed as well! We love libraries. Especially the people who run them, like our friends at the Free Library of Philadelphia and Temple University's Charles Library. We love that they are a place where all members of the community are welcomed and can gain access to information. We love that they offer free classes in topics ranging from learning Japanese to resume writing. We hope that when you join us on January 25th, you'll take some time to browse the stacks and bring home a book that catches your eye!

One of the most exhilarating parts of the early planning stages of our serial opera project is deciding the instrumentation that will weave through each episode. We are really loving the sonic universe (sorry) that flute+cello+guitar creates. And we really love Chelsea Meynig, Leigh Brown, and Thomas Schuttenhelm.meynig
