It is the weekend and, as promised, we are thrilled to announce our second pairing: Alexis Granwell and Aurora Noreña!
Artist’s correspondence has always provided the most intimate of insights into the conversations that have shaped the most creative artworks. Think about it, many master pieces would not look as we know them if they weren’t shaped by the constant back and forth of several minds. This is not a new phenomenon, many have been fascinated by the rails of correspondence between powerful brains. There is even such a thing as ‘Mail Art’!
Aurora and Alexis have been exchanging thoughts on the techniques and interpretations they find in the making of their works. Their conversation turns around the theme of the in and out: what makes the skin and the skeleton of their work, and how surfaces are embedded with meaning. From the pictorial to the poetic, this exchange allows the public to approach a little the artist's own journey. The following is a replica of this beautiful exchange that they have agreed to make public.
Happy reading people! May this beautiful correspondence help you to face the end of the weekend and the start of the week!
