Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Young Adult Cancer Program was proud to be represented at Stupid Cancer's CancerCon 2026, the nation’s largest gathering dedicated to the adolescent and young adult cancer community.

Christopher Cann, MD and Disha Sawhney, DHA, MHA, FACHDM, joined patients, survivors, advocates, and health professionals from across the country to share ideas, build community, and help advance the future of young adult cancer care.

For young adults, cancer affects far more than treatment. It can disrupt school, careers, relationships, fertility, mental health, independence, and identity. Through the Young Adult Cancer Program, Fox Chase is working to create a more connected and supportive model of care designed specifically for this stage of life.

We are proud to help lead the charge in reshaping how cancer care is delivered to young adults — in Philadelphia and across the country.

On National Cancer Survivors Day, we honor the strength, resilience, and stories of survivors like Shamika Williams.

In our Survivor to Survivor series, Shamika sits down with Mike Schmidt for an honest conversation about hope, perseverance, and the power of early detection after facing her own lung cancer diagnosis in 2022.

Today, Shamika is thriving, advocating for health equity and research, and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for Strike Out Cancer Day with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Watch Shamika’s story and learn why early detection can save lives.

The Young Adult Cancer Program recently hosted a social mixer for patients and caregivers.

For young adults facing cancer, connection and community can make a meaningful difference. The evening created space for patients and caregivers to step away from appointments and treatment, share experiences, and connect with others who understand the journey.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Bayer Pharmaceuticals for helping make the event possible.
