Latex paint on metal panel

As someone who is Hispanic, yet born and raised in the United States, this painting reflects my experience of living between two cultures. it captures a familiar Saturday morning in my hometown, where visits to the Dominican salon became more than an errand- they became a connection to my Dominican roots.

The woman in hair rollers symbolize, a shared cultural experience one that many Dominican families recognize instantly. The busy downtown, the Multi Service businesses, the music create a landscape that feels deeply rooted in the Dominican Republic, all while existing within an American City.

This painting is my representation of what it is to grow up both Hispanic and American, navigating two identities and finding homes in the spaces where they both meet.
