When it comes to placement, it is important to understand that the term "appropriate" does not mean that a program is "appropriate" for every student. The fact that a student is making progress because he is receiving a specific service, means that that service is only appropriate for him/her. it does not mean that every student in the district should receive the same service. Just because a student receives ABA and ABA is appropriate for that student does not mean that ABA is appropriate for all students. Although this may appear as self-evident, parents often compare what the program other students receive to the program their child receives. it is instrumental to understand the unique needs of our children so we can be better advocates for their needs.
