These are made of hard maple that's glued together for an on edge cutting board. Maple is one of the best woods for cutting boards because of the closed grain characteristics, unlike oak which is open grain. By making the boards on edge its more scratch and impact resistant, but not so hard that it will dull your knives. They are pre- treated with butcher block and ready to go!
