On June 12th 2016 49 people were killed and 58 people wounded at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando Florida. March 2026 the nightclub was demolished to make way for a memorial that should be finished in 2027. For more info: https://www.pulseorlando.org/Home

Bookclub took a bit of a break but we are back now and reading "Not My Father's Son" by Alan Cu***ng to follow up on their book "Baggage". We are looking forward to reading and discussing this book on June 28 at 2pm online.

This day is in honor of Harvey Milk's birthday. Milk was a pioneering LGBTQ+ rights activist and first openly gay person elected to public office in California. It is a day of education and action, focused on continuing his fight against discrimination and for equality.

In 2021, HIV prevalence among Asian people was the highest in the Western regions of the U.S., and the two states with the highest Asian HIV prevalence were California and New York. It is up to us to spread awareness about the health disparities experienced by Asians, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders while we all work towards eliminating the HIV epidemic among these communities.

Started on May 17, 1990, this day was chosen to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases. This is a day to lobby for legal protections, challenge stigma, and celebrate sexual and gender diversity.

Le***an Visibility Day amplifies the need to protect health and wellbeing in our communities. The aim is to build public understanding of LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary people's lives, to increase le***an visibility and to create a legacy that benefits our community everywhere.

Nonbinary Parents Day was created to combat the isolation nonbinary parents can feel and to celebrate in a way that feels right for them. Some ways to celebrate are to have family picnics, gifting, or by reading children's books that feature nonbinary characters and families. 💛💜🖤
