In October, the average cost of home insurance in the US hit $2,285/year for $300,000 worth of coverage.

This is up another $370, or 19%, in just 5 months, according to Bankrate.

Over the last 3 years, the average annual cost of home insurance is now up ~30%.

Nebraska, Florida, and Oklahoma are the most expensive states, with annual insurance rates of $5,655, $5,527, and $4,835, respectively.
