Today the WCS team spent the day at FDR state park with our friends at for their annual walkathon. BluePath provides autism service dogs to families affected by autism free of charge. We are proud to be a sponsor of their mission. We have also recently partnered with BluePath to train first responders on how to handle service animals in emergencies. The WCS team was out and about again! Tonight we were joined by members of the Montrose and Verplanck Fire Departments for "Service Dogs and First Responders" training. We would like to thank everyone who attended our Critical Incident Stress Management Group Crisis Intervention course over this past weekend. We know that the past couple of days were both physically and emotionally draining but we truely appreciate all of you.

Today's the day! In just over an hour the WCS team will join first responders from all over the area for day one of "Critical Incident Stress Management: Group Crisis Intervention". At the conclusion of this 2 day course attendees will become certified to run Critical Incident Stress Debriefings helping first responders cope with the mental and emotional stress created by responding to traumatic events. This course is part of our "Mental Health Series" dedicated to the mental and emotional well being of our fellow first responders.

Last night the WCS team kicked off Autism awareness month at Ossining EMS with our favorite course "First Responders and Service Dogs". This course teaches first responders about the various types of service dogs, ADA access laws, transport of service dogs and working with autistic and visually impared patients. The course was created by BluePath Service Dogs, a not for profit that provides free service dogs to children with autism, and can be applied as CME credit for NYS EMTs.
