Happy Juneteenth!
Today marks 161 years since enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned they were free. More than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of the long journey toward freedom, equality, and justice. It is a day to honor the resilience, contributions, and achievements of African Americans throughout our nation’s history while reflecting on the work that remains ahead.
Let us celebrate freedom, remember the past, and continue striving for a more just and inclusive future for all.

🚨BREAKING 🚨: Cape Verde plays Spain to a 0-0 draw. This is one of the biggest upsets. Yes upsets. At the World Cup so far! While it may not look dramatic on the scoreboard, this is a massive win for Cape Verde, earning a hard fought point against one of the tournament favorites!
The Cape Verde goal keeper was outstanding and deserves all the praise. Lookout World Cup. This team’s for real! ⚽️🇨🇻
⚽🏴 World Cup vibes were in full swing in Providence today! Had the chance to meet some wonderful folks from Scotland and share plenty of laughs, and talk football (Soccer and American). To me I t’s moments like this that make the World Cup special. Bringing people from different corners of the world together through sport. Parts 1 - 5

I’m hearing Pawtucket didn’t exactly rise to the occasion for the Bill Burr show last night.
And honestly, I can attest to some of it myself. I got caught in the traffic nightmare around 7 PM, and it was unlike anything I’ve seen around the stadium area. One person even told me they spent an hour and a half driving in circles trying to find parking before finally giving up and heading home.
I’ve also heard concessions ran out of both beer and water right around the time Bill Burr took the stage. Add in reports of entrance lines stretching anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, and it sounds like many fans had a frustrating experience before they ever got to their seats.
Traffic control appeared to be less than stellar, and to make matters worse, all of this was happening while the city was hosting a World Cup watch party just blocks away and Shea High School’s graduation was taking place around the same time, also within the same area. Throw in the sweltering heat and humidity, and it became a perfect storm of congestion and frustration.
That said, I’ve heard that once Bill Burr finally got on stage, he delivered a fantastic show and had the crowd laughing all night.
If even half of what I’m hearing is true, the city, stadium officials, and event organizers need to get things together quickly! Especially with the two day reggae festival coming to town in August. Last night should serve as a valuable lesson in planning, logistics, traffic management, and crowd control before the next major event rolls into town.
