Congratulations to our 2026 graduates! A special shout-out to two of them, Sebastian and Sofia, pictured on the right. They have been on our team since their freshman year. They are the Salutatorian and Valedictorian of their school John Muir High School Early College Magnet, and both have earned full ride scholarships to college. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, and achievements!

Sofia, will be attending Columbia University, where she plans to study Finance & pre law.

Sebastian, will be majoring in Data Science and Electrical Engineering.

Congratulations to our very own Helena H from Thurgood Marshall Secondary School 🎉

She has been accepted to University of California, Berkeley, where she will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

She is currently on the engineering/CAD team and has been working this season on our Novelis and Ball FIRST Robotics Canbot initiative. We are incredibly proud of her and can’t wait to see all that she accomplishes next!

He has been accepted to RIT, where he will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

He is currently our team captain and has been instrumental in our team’s success this season. We are incredibly proud of him, and can’t wait to see all that he accomplishes next!

Congratulations to our very own Sebastian T. from John Muir Early College Magnet! 🎉
He has been accepted to UC Berkeley and awarded a full-ride scholarship, and he will also be part of the STEM Excellence through Equity & Diversity (SEED) Scholars Honors Program.

Sebastian will be majoring in Data Science and Electrical Engineering. He is currently part of our engineering and design teams and has been instrumental in our team’s award writing and STEAM outreach efforts in Peru. We are incredibly proud of him and can’t wait to see all that he accomplishes next!

FIRST Robotics Team 2404 had an amazing end to the 2026 FIRST Robotics season, placing 50th out of 60 at the SoCal State Championship and finishing 99th out of 296 overall in the state. A special thank you to Robin and Andrew of our sister team 980 for stepping in as mentors to help us at the State Championship and for all their help this season.

Team 2404 had a great weekend at the Aerospace Valley District event. We finished 3rd as the second alliance pick, alongside our amazing partners: (La Crescenta, CA) and (Dublin, CA). With our win last week and the points earned this week, we’ve qualified and will be attending the State Championship later this week in Anaheim. This Black History Month, we celebrate some lesser-known Black innovators in STEM who helped shape the world.
1. Valerie Thomas: Invented the Illusion Transmitter, an early 3D imaging system that helped lay the groundwork for modern VR, medical imaging, and advanced visualization technologies.
2. Mark Dean: Co-invented key components of the IBM personal computer, including the system architecture and color PC monitor that shaped modern desktop computing.
3. Jerry Lawson: Created the first interchangeable video game cartridges, establishing the technical and business model for the entire home gaming industry.
