new work - album cover for the vaude villanz

for the 9th year running - i am making all the advertising materials for The Edwardian Ball. it's probably my favorite recurring gig for a bunch of reasons, not the least of which being that i get to rework Edward Gorey art into new permutations with the full license of the estate. it's basically a seance i get to do with ed gorey every year.

3 days, and a lot of Nick Cave records later - the 2017 ad mats are starting to come into to focus, and you'll all see them everywhere soon enough - but while we're waiting - here's a retrospective of the 8 years prior.

in basketball - a "poster" is when i you straight up dunk on a guy in an almost violent fashion.

in graphic design - it means you finally get to work on an area bigger than a postage stamp.

you know when you are leaving a concert or whatever and there is a guy standing right in the middle of the exodus with a stack of 5x7 inch cards trying to shove one in every single persons mitts as they do their level best to avoid them? you know when sometimes you get a peek at one and it's so awesomely well designed and printed - your impulse to recoil is suddenly overwhelmed with "oooh - what's that"?

i make those kind of flyers.

once upon a time, mankind stored his music encoded on flat discs surrounded by a highly decorated paper and plastic wrapper. i was among those who made what we called "cd and album packages"

before the dark times.
before the empire.
