We’re extending the spirit of our Day of Giving into a Week of Giving, because the needs of our neighbors don’t end after just one day.
Every day, vulnerable seniors throughout Bergen County rely on Bergen Volunteers to help them remain safe, independent, and connected. They need us today, tomorrow, and every day that follows.
If you haven’t had a chance to make a gift yet, there’s still time to be part of something meaningful.
Your generosity helps older adults age with dignity, supports families facing challenges, mentors young people, and strengthens our community through the power of volunteers.
When neighbors help neighbors, everyone is stronger.
Will you join us during our Week of Giving by making a gift that’s meaningful to you?

Sometimes changing lives doesn’t require changing the world.
It just takes simple acts of kindness, right here at home. For too many older adults in Bergen County, things like replacing a lightbulb over a stairwell, installing a grab bar in a bathtub, or having someone stop by for a friendly visit aren’t conveniences—they’re lifelines.
For nearly 60 years, Bergen Volunteers has been there to help neighbors age safely, independently, and with dignity.
Next week, we’ll celebrate our Day of Giving, and we’d love for you to be part of it.
Because when neighbors help neighbors, everyone is stronger.
Stay tuned to learn how you can make a difference.

Today, we honor and remember our dear CHORE program volunteer, Lee McQuade, who passed away at the age of 90.
For 14 years, 4 months, and 26 days, Lee faithfully volunteered with Bergen Volunteers every Friday, giving his time, talents, and heart to help older adults remain safe and independent in their homes. His dedication touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on our CHORE program.
Lee was more than a volunteer. He was a friend, a familiar face, and someone who could always make you smile. He had a way of greeting everyone with his signature, "How you be?" And if you asked him how he was doing, his answer was always, "Better than I deserve." Those simple words, delivered with his warm smile, are something many of us will never forget.
Thank you, Lee, for every Friday you spent helping others, for every laugh you shared, and for the example you set. You will be deeply missed by all of us at Bergen Volunteers, but your impact will live on in the lives you touched.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Lee's family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest easy, Lee. ❤️

In 1966, the CHORE Service program was born out of a critical need: helping seniors make their homes safer so they could age in place. That original team laid a foundation of care, dignity, and independence that has stood the test of time.
Today, the faces have changed, but the mission remains exactly the same. Our current CHORE volunteers are out in the community every single weekday, ensuring our senior neighbors can live safely and comfortably in the homes they love.
To every volunteer who has picked up a hammer, turned a screwdriver, or offered a smile over the last six decades: Thank you for being a driving force behind 60 years of community impact. Because of your dedication, generations of seniors have been able to stay safely in their homes. You didn’t just fix houses—you changed lives. ✨
