Meetings are held at 7pm in the Borough hall downstairs caucus room on the first Wednesday of every month, unless there is a holiday or otherwise advertised.
Open to the public! The Paramus Environmental Commission seeks to protect and improve the quality of our land, water, and air by advising the Borough of Paramus on actions and policies of sustainability. Through education and outreach, the Commission seeks to inspire our community, both residential and commercial, to incorporate environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives.

“Skip the Stuff” NJ law prohibiting single-use utensils and condiments begins August 1, 2026.

Here are 6 Tips for hosting a plastic-free event:
1) Promote reusable water bottles and partner with local water companies to bring in mobile water stations. Request vendors to not sell single use plastic water bottles
2) Partner with R.Cup
3) Promote Reusable utensils
4) Use dispensers for bulk condiments
(e.g., ketchup, mayo, mustard)
5) Promote proper recycling and partner with local composting company
6) NO outdoor balloon releases for celebration

Unfortunately the weather did not want to play nice with us! Rain is supposed to start tonight and last through tomorrow so we will be moving our Clean up event to the rain date which is NEXT Saturday May 2nd! This event is via registration only and if you have not already registered for this week please keep an eye out for our Fall clean up date! We will put that information out for everyone the beginning of August! Thank you!

Mark your calendars! The next Bergen County Utilities Authority Recycling Event will take place on Sunday, April 26, at Bergen Community College, from 9am - 2pm.
Recycle old electronics and computers, safely dispose of unwanted medication, shred papers, and recycle old tires- all in one place!
All events are free and for Bergen County residents only (proof of residence required).

Friday is the last day to sign up!! This is a great way to earn community service hours, help out the town and also a great teaching moment! We will have another event in September if you cannot make this one! Email [email protected] and someone will email you back with forms to fill out!
