This beautiful rug features the traditional Zapotec design known as agave (maguey), it was worshipped by the Aztecs and has many uses, but what really makes it famous is that mezcal comes from it, which is considered by Zapotecs as a mystical and sacred drink. The candles (the design at the edge of each agave) have a spiritual meaning for the Zapotecs, since the light of the candles represents the beginning of life and when they are burned out it represents its end. The rug has rows of god’s eye design interspersed which makes it even more beautiful to decorate any space in your home. (See description for more details)
