On This Day in 1980, Led Zeppelin Performed Their Final Concert with John Bonham

⠀

On July 7, 1980, Led Zeppelin gave their final performance with John Bonham, closing an extraordinary chapter in rock history.

⠀

Just weeks later, Bonham's passing brought the band to an end, as the remaining members decided that Led Zeppelin could not continue without him.

⠀

Looking back, that final concert stands as one of the most poignant farewells in the history of classic rock.

The Grand Illusion turns 49 today! Released on 7/7/77, it went triple platinum and became the first in a run of four straight multiplatinum albums, a feat no band had pulled off before. The record that gave us "Come Sail Away" and "Fooling Yourself." What's your favorite track from this one?
