Perhaps it’s something that’s been calling to you. Or gnawing at you. Life is too short to not be getting paid to do the work you love.

Whatever change is on the way, I’ll help you envision the invisible, clarify the hazy, and manifest the imagined.

I attended Tribeca X, part of the Tribeca Film Festival.

Dave Penske, CEO of Publicist Media, shared details about their recent holiday campaign for the Publicis Group.

Publicis is one of the largest communications companies globally, with over 100,000 employees.

Instead of their usual holiday message, they took a different approach.

Using AI, they sent 100,000 personalized messages to each individual employee thanking them for their hard work throughout the year.

The AI gathered information about the employee from public sources online (done in a “non-creepy” way, as Dave assured).

AI then matches each person’s interests with the content of the message.

Bingo, 100,000 custom messages.

So, why go through all this effort? Specifically for employees?

Three reasons:

It generated a lot of media coverage—at least 25 publications picked up the story, giving Publicis free publicity.

t positioned the company as a leader in using AI to scale personalized communications, showcasing their innovation.

Employees received something more thoughtful and personal than the usual generic holiday message.

A “triple win” for Publicis: setting them apart from other agencies in a creative and impactful way.

“Island” Mike is a passionate sailor who lives on a stunning 50-foot sailboat just three blocks from where I work.

Every day, I see him working on his boat, sanding, painting, perfecting.

But Island Mike isn’t just maintaining a sailboat; he’s crafting unforgettable experiences with his sailing journeys which are open to the public

I had the pleasure of sailing twice with Island Mike, discovering that I bought more than just a cruise on the water.

Mike's expertise and enthusiasm transform a simple sail into an immersive adventure full of insights about sailing, the environment, and even local politics—going well beyond the sail itself.

I now know how to predict wind gusts before they happen, I can now tell if the tide is incoming or outgoing without looking at a chart. I’m now more conscious about the unique and delicate ecology of the Long Island Sound.

I expected stunning views of my hometown of Norwalk, Connecticut. What I got was much more.

Just as Island Mike transcends the sail, you too can transcend your offer by acting as the ultimate host and guide for your clients, creating a more immersive experience for them.

This perspective not only adds value but also creates deeper relationships.

Have you ever heard of a failure resume?

The idea behind a failure resume is to track those times we didn't quite hit the mark.

Reflecting on these moments can be beneficial lessons learned.

Here's a little something from my failure resume:

I got my first chance to be a “floor director” during a live video shoot.

Among other things, my job was to count down the talent.

I was on set, I couldn’t speak so I counted down the talent this way:

“5…4…3” (and then a silent) “2…1” *with a finger point to on-camera talent*

I counted down properly, and the talent was rolling.

30 seconds into the shoot, the director said something from his soundproof booth into my headset. I thought he was speaking to me.

I responded out loud, “What did you say?”

It stopped the entire shoot.

The crew glared at me, the director was furious, and I wanted to disappear.

But this failure taught me an important lesson.

Now, when I interview people, I stay completely silent until they finish speaking.

And even after they are done speaking, I give it another full beat, just to be doubly sure that I'm not talking over them.

That failure happened 25 years ago. I think about it today.

What are some of the lessons in your failure resume?

How did they help shape what you are today?

Recently, my friend Marie Bodine asked me to do a "Saboteur Assessment."

Saboteurs are those inner voices that stir up negative emotions as you face life's challenges.

If you don't have any, you are not a real person.

Saboteurs dictate your thoughts and reactions, fueling stress, anxiety, and frustration—undermining your performance (and your relationships).

This assessment is my first step toward mastering these internal critics.

Was I surprised at the results? Heck no.

Do I know what to do about them? Heck no.

That's why I'm attending Relaunch U's Inner Peace Power Hour featuring Inner Peace Coach Marie Bodine on Thursday, June 13 at 4p ET.

If you're curious about your saboteurs and want to know what to do about them, DM me for the link to sign up and the link for the assessment.
