AnalySwift offers accurate and efficient simulation software for modeling composites materials and structures, allowing users to achieve 3D FEA accuracy at the efficiency of simple engineering models. AnalySwift is a leading provider of efficient, high-fidelity simulation software for the simulation of composite materials and structures. Our tools, SwiftComp and VABS, are well suited to provide you with a competitive advantage through cutting-edge technology for multiscale, multiphysics structural and micromechanics modeling. Utilizing technology licensed from Purdue University, Georgia Tech, and Utah State University, AnalySwift offers you the best compromise between efficiency, accuracy, and versatility for multiscale, multiphysics modeling of composite materials and structures. For instance, VABS (slender structures) and SwiftComp save engineers several orders of magnitude in design cycle time compared to detailed finite element analysis (FEA), without a loss of accuracy. This allows engineers to reduce design cycle and time to market, design earlier in the process, and handle more complex models, ultimately, lowering costs and increasing confidence in quality.

AnalySwift has received a NASA award to enable long-duration space missions. The Phase II STTR award will fund a 2-year activity to develop robotic welding technology.
There is a critical barrier to cultivating a sustainable human presence on the moon, Mars and beyond: Delivering materials to build infrastructure is costly and requires more cargo space than is currently available. The award from NASA for a two-year activity to develop a solution: a robotic technology that welds and unwelds thermoplastic composites in space.
Allan Wood, AnalySwift president and CEO, said the activity’s purpose is to enable disassembly and reassembly of large truss structures by unwelding and welding composite joints. “This capability allows the repurposing of spacecraft components for other missions, achieving multiuse structures and assembling large structures without the limit of launch-fairing dimensions,” he said.
AnalySwift develops cutting-edge engineering software for the rapid yet accurate design and analysis of composite materials structures.
“Our focus will be simulating the advanced materials and structures needed for this activity, including the feasibility of repurposing full-scale truss structures,” Wood said.
The full news release is available on Purdue University’s website, including details of Purdue’s role, which includes developing composite joints embedded with a resistance heater and the robotics used to assemble and repurpose large structures.

CompositesAI was one of 33 finalists in JEC Composites Innovation Award competition.
AnalySwift congratulates all the teams who made the finals list for the 2026 JEC Composites Innovation Award. The company is excited to have its CompositesAI selected as one of the 33 finalists in 11 categories. We extend our thanks to JEC and the jury for this recognition. CompositesAI, a platform jointly developed by AnalySwift and Purdue University, was selected as one of three finalists in the Digital, AI & Data category. Created in 1998, the JEC Composites Innovation Award program aims to identify, promote, and reward the most innovative composite solutions worldwide.
CompositesAI is an AI-powered expert system that consolidates certified composites knowledge and simulation tools via LLMs. It combines the authority of leading experts with the precision of simulation software, enabling domain experts to build custom AI agents without AI expertise.
"Advanced composites enable lighter, high-performance structures, but decades of accumulated knowledge remain fragmented across documents, software tools, and experts’ tacit experience," said Dr. Wenbin Yu, AnalySwift CTO and the Milton Clauser Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University. "CompositesAI addresses this by creating an AI-powered expert system that unifies static data (papers, standards, reports), dynamic data (simulation tools, physics-based or machine-learned), and tacit engineering insight. The platform provides sourced, explainable, traceable answers to natural-language queries, while linking prompts directly to physics-based or machine-learning simulations. The growing corpus will support a composites-specific foundational model."
Key benefits of CompositesAI:
- Consolidate all composites expert knowledge
- Democratize expert knowledge using chat interface
- Enable simulation tools for entire supply chain
- Leverage all public composites knowledge and tools
- Intelligentize proprietary knowledge via AI

AnalySwift CTO, Dr. Wenbin Yu, has published a book introducing his new, top down approach to multiscale structural mechanics.
Dr. Yu, AnalySwift CTO and Milton Clauser Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University, has published a new book, Multiscale Structural Mechanics: Top-Down Modeling of Composite Structures Using Mechanics of Structure Genome with Wiley (January 2026). The book represents a practical, unified approach to multiscale composites modeling—bridging micromechanics and structural mechanics with clarity and rigor.
This unified and rigorous approach to modeling composite structures is grounded in the concept of the Structure Genome. It integrates micromechanics and structural mechanics through the Mechanics of Structure Genome (MSG), enabling multiscale constitutive modeling for general anisotropic and heterogeneous materials—without relying on the limiting assumptions found in traditional methods.
The book introduces readers unfamiliar with vectors and tensors, continuum mechanics, micromechanics, and structural mechanics to the basics of each of these topics. It goes on to bridge the gap between micromechanics and structural mechanics, offering readers multiscale structural models that remain as simple as classical engineering models but with the accuracy expected of more complex theories capturing microstructural details.
Designed for both newcomers and experienced practitioners, the book covers:
- A concise intro to vectors, tensors, continuum mechanics, and classical structural models
- In-depth discussion on MSG and its application to beams, plates, shells, and 3D solids
-A full bridge between micromechanics and structural mechanics
- Use of calculus of variations and variational asymptotic methods for composite modeling
- Guidance to construct efficient, high-fidelity composite models
- Insights on stress and failure analysis of composite laminates
Whether you’re a graduate student in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or a researcher/engineer working with composite materials, this book is a powerful resource for modeling complex structures with engineering-level simplicity and precision.
Links to get the book to explore how multiscale thinking is reshaping composite structures are found in the article. It can be ordered on Amazon, Wiley, and Amazon Canada. Signed copies of the book will additionally be available for purchase at the ASME SSDM Conference June 8-10 2026, in Long Beach, California. A new publication on fatigue delamination in composites by AnalySwift and collaborators is now available.
AnalySwift is excited to share the latest journal paper by Senior Research Scientist Dr. Liang Zhang and collaborators on machine learning–aided cohesive zone modeling (CZM) for fatigue delamination. The paper was published in the Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures on January 18, 2026.
"The proposed CZM accurately captures high-cycle, mixed-mode fatigue delamination and can be directly calibrated from experimental G–N and crack growth rate data," said Dr. Zhang. "By integrating machine-learning surrogates into the calibration workflow, the approach reduces the required number of full finite-element simulations by about 90%, delivering major efficiency gains while maintaining accuracy."
"These advancements are particularly relevant to industries and applications involving composite durability and fatigue life prediction, including aerospace structures, defense systems, automotive composites, wind energy, and other high-performance composite applications," continued Dr. Zhang.
Collaborators include Dr. Xin Liu, Dr. Su Tian, Dr. Zhenyuan Gao, Dr. Robert A. Haynes, and Dr. Wenbin Yu.
