Community transformation happens one project, one partnership, and one morning at a time.

A huge thank you to the Cummins Inc Turbo Technologies VPI Team for spending Friday morning alongside us at St. Matthew Baptist Church and Metanoia. Together, they planted flowers, refreshed landscaping with fresh mulch, trimmed the fence line, cleaned up our campus, and, most importantly, invested time building relationships with one another and the community.

Your willingness to roll up your sleeves helps create welcoming spaces where neighbors can gather, connect, and thrive. Thank you for choosing to invest in Chicora and the families who call this place home. 💛

Training for Metanoia’s Freedom school is underway!

At Metanoia, leadership development doesn’t start and stop with one season. It’s a year-round investment in the scholars.

During Metanoia’s CDF Freedom School, students are challenged academically, encouraged creatively, and empowered to lead boldly. From 1st through 12th grade, programming provides opportunities for growth, leadership building, and academic enrichment every step of the way.

Through rigorous after-school support and immersive summer experiences like During Freedom School, staff help students build confidence, strengthen their voices, and prepare for success far beyond the classroom.

The future is bright, and it’s already leading the way. 💛

💛

Today Metanoia and The Concerned Citizens of Accabee broke ground on a new housing project that will bring more affordable housing options to the community. We’re excited to see how this project builds on the brilliance that already exists within the Accabee Community. 💛

Tonight's Accabee Neighborhood Meeting is canceled.

Please stop by the Reynolds Ave Open House tonight at Keith Summey Library from 6-7:30 PM to help shape future plans around housing, local business support, and neighborhood development along the Reynolds corridor.

Come make sure your voice is heard and counted.

This Transit-Oriented Development Planning initiative is an opportunity to help define your community’s future. Together, we are creating three neighborhood plans for Reynolds Avenue, Mall Drive, and Aviation/Remount that strengthen each area’s unique character while supporting stability for existing residents and businesses.

Building on years of Lowcountry Rapid Transit engagement, your voice matters. Join us to help shape what comes next by taking the survey or participating in our upcoming community events! We will have snacks, swag, and kids’ activities.

There’s something powerful about learning through rhythm, storytelling, and shared experience.

MYLA scholars recently participated in a Peace Culture Music experience and Drum Circle with Mr. Daniel Scruggs, exploring instruments, traditions, and stories from cultures around the world. Through interactive music and conversation, scholars were encouraged to stay curious, expand their perspectives, and discover how connection can grow across different backgrounds and experiences.

Mr. Daniel’s passion for global learning and cultural connection created a space filled with joy, creativity, and discovery, reminding us that music truly is a universal language. ❤️

Metanoia is honored to have received the AIA South Carolina Design & Chapter’s Social Justice Award.

To be in a room filled with amazing architects and design professionals was inspiring.

To quote the Executive Director, the recipients of these awards have created spaces “rooted in responsibility, creativity, and service”.

To have Metanoia’s work highlighted means so much. We’re just here to walk with the families and neighbors in our community. 🙏🏾
