You don't need a job in France to live in France.
In fact, there's a visa where you're not even allowed to have one.
Most people think they need:
A French job.
Fluent French.
A long-term lease.
So they wait.
They take French classes for years.
They apply to jobs that never write back.
And the result? They stay stuck in a life they've already decided to leave.
Far from the heart of Europe.
The alternative is actually much simpler:
- Enough income or savings. Around € 1500/month
- Health insurance for your whole stay.
- A place to live for your first months.
That's it.
No employer to convince.
No language test.
No 12-month lease signed from abroad.
You won't be able to work for a French company with it.
But if what you want is the life, it's the simplest way in.
And the upsides?
Sunday morning markets.
Weekend trains to Italy.
A life that finally feels like yours.

1. Prepare your renewal application in time.
2. Anticipate the documents that the prefecture may request.
3. Request your extension attestation (API).
4. Check that your study plans are coherent with your career plans.
5. Respect the limit on the number of hours you are allowed to work.
6. Check that your diploma will be recognized.
7. Understand your different options after graduation (APS, employee, entrepreneur, etc.).
8. Build your network for your change of status.
9. Don't trust dubious information.

Imagine, tu as une compétition dimanche.

🎓 Did you just graduate in France?
If so, there’s one date you probably shouldn’t forget.
The date you received your diploma.
Why?
Because for some international students who want to stay in France after finishing their studies, this date can mark the start of a real countdown.
I’m talking about the RECE card: 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞 𝐝 ’𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐢 𝐨𝐮 𝐂𝐫𝐞́𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝 ’𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞.
Since June 2025... you have a maximum of 12 months after graduation to apply for this RECE card.
In other words:
You graduate.
The countdown begins.
⏳ 1 month.
⏳ 6 months.
⏳ 11 months.
And if you wait too long...
you could miss out on this opportunity.
So if you’re about to finish your studies in France and are thinking about what’s next : a job, a change in status, starting a business...
Don’t wait until it’s too late to start thinking about your administrative future.
Plan ahead.

Or, tu peux éviter ces pièges.
