The VCLO held
a hybrid meeting on September 26, 2026, at Saint Mark AME Church, 1740 Potters Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454; or you could attend via Zoom. Valerie Gowens Terry
President, Virginia Conference Lay Organization, lead the meeting. Besides the usual business, group heard from candidates running for offices in the Second Episcopal District Lay Organization. During our training period, Velda Gullap, VCLO Public Relations Director, talked about the importance of voting. She encouraged the Lay to talk voting up in their homes and churches. Sometimes people are paying attention to dates and that an election is near nor what it's about. You tell them and show them by voting and being a cheerleader.

ABOUT NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY

National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to celebrating our democracy. Since its kickoff in 2012, the holiday and its team of thousands of Partners have worked to get over 6.5 million Americans registered to vote in time for their next trip to the ballot box.

Heaven has welcomed a faithful servant.
First Lady Frankie Colvin walked with humility, loved with strength, and poured into this ministry with her whole heart. She was a nurturer, a worshipper, and a steady anchor for our church.

Her smile warmed the sanctuary.
Her wisdom guided generations.
Her faith inspired us all.

We celebrate her life, honor her legacy, and hold her family close in prayer.
