Handmade is greater than computer generated.
My husband told me something that made me so mad this weekend. He said one of the techno-crooks said that AI would take over all human labor leaving billions out of work. I don't remember who he was quoting but another one of them put out a statement disputing this pretty quick to save face and PR.
This statement made me so mad for several reasons but the main and immediate recation was this. There are more jobs in the world than that which can be done with AI. My job can not be done with AI because by its very nature it is the antithesis of it. Most small business is the antithesis of it. We exist because of the human face behind it. Can a restaurant or shop be run by AI, maybe, but other than novelty would anyone want to go there?
I think most tech people forget about the world outside of their little bubble 🫧. AI is a tool that can be used to speed up menial tasks or organize data (I still have not found either to be useful in my business by the way) but it can never replace the parts of work that are inherently human, the parts people enjoy. Like creating, designing, inventing, discovering... Why would we want to replace that work anyway?
As it stands now despite the tech world trying to force AI down our throats I don't use any of it. I even disabled Gemini on my phone because it kept pi***ng me off and responing with wrong answers or when no one was talking. I dont use it to write listing text, edit photos, pricing, marketing, not even accounting (which I really hate). Its all me all the time, baby! And its gonna stay that way. 😉

Let's be real, the platform thrives on us showing the sunny side of being an artist or us dorking out lip syncing to audio tracks. But being a independent artist is hard. Like really hard. The uncertainty, loneliness, imposter syndrome. It feels overwhelming sometimes. But then you meet that one person who stops by your booth or sends you a sweet message to say how much they like your work. And it means the world. 💗
Sometimes I feel so frustrated with the life I've chosen. All the boring admin 😴, spending hours on the phone being the family's health insurance agent 🤮, sleepless nights worrying about the future 🫩. But lately, I've been watching as my husband and other loved ones are navigating this 'brave new world' with AI in the workplace and I think...😳 DAMN! I'm glad I got out of the rat race when I did! Cause my boss (aka: me) could never fire me to let an app do my job.
All jokes aside, I am truly disturbed by what the corpo's are doing to our economy. I feel like the only way forward is to support small and local over big business. And I hope to see a lot more people jumping into the world of making and indie business to counteract the development of our country into a corpocracy. And if I happen to be posting more videos that are anti-AI...this is why.

Confession time: I have fought with earrings since the day I got my ears pierced. I have so many issues I might as well have a subscription. The metal, the style, the weight, the way it moves, it all wigs out my piercings. I spent years avoiding wearing any until I realized I could make my own! 😳
I am partial to hoops and developing a huggie hoop that was easy to wear, didn't have an annoying claps or post, and looked cute was a major goal for me. These hoops are my everyday go to and are one of my all time best sellers. I personally have 6 pairs I switch between and my daughter has been wearing her 1st pair for 2 weeks now. 🥹
I have been making this style since 2021 and they are the style so many of you have come back and told me how much you love them ❤️, how easy and comfortable they are to wear every day. You all have no idea how much that means to me. 💗 It goes to show, design can't exist in a vacuum. And that just because something has always been done a certain way doesn't mean it can't be done differently. I took my own experience and created a solution to my problems and it resonated with others. That's one of the coolest parts of what I do and why I do it.
Design isn't just about making something pretty it's about creating something that works and making it pretty. 😉 And we all deserve pretty things that don't make us dread wearing them.

What a beautiful day to weave a rainbow!
I'm working on some new colorways for a summer launch. I am not much of a drop earring person but I might have to make an exception for these lightweight sparklies.
in addition to playing with colors and gemstones I take a lot of time working out the engineering of my designes. Yes, engineering. each style actually has to be worn, stay in place, and not be annoying to the person wearing it. That's the difference between good design and bad design. These earrings have such a long back to help balance the weight of the drop. It helps to keep the earring from sliding forward and falling out. second the way I shape the threader also helps keep the earring in without a back. The hoop at the top (the part that goes through the ear lobe) has a small opening and the metal is designed to flex as it is put in and close back down once in place. To remove them you just gently pull and the wire will flex again to open. Mass produced earwires dont do that!
