🩷 You may notice PAPD looking a little different this month!

Throughout October, our officers will be wearing pink uniforms in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🎀

For us, it’s a simple way to show our support for those fighting breast cancer, those who have beaten it, the families who have been impacted, and those we have lost.

We also hope that by wearing pink throughout the month, we can do our small part to help bring attention and awareness to a disease that has touched so many lives.

So if you see our officers out in pink this October, know there’s a reason behind it — support, awareness, and standing with those affected by breast cancer. 🩷

We honor his service, courage, and ultimate sacrifice.

Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369, made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on September 28, 2026.

The Kentucky State Police Foundation is accepting donations to support Trooper Phillips’ family during this incredibly difficult time.

The Blue Line Network extends its deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the family of Denton Police Chief George Bacorn, who tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle collision earlier today.

Our thoughts are also with the officers, staff, and entire Denton Police Department as they mourn the loss of their chief and leader.

We stand with the law enforcement community during this difficult time and pray for strength, comfort, and peace for Chief Bacorn’s family, friends, colleagues, and all those affected by this tragic loss.

Rest in peace, Chief George Bacorn. Your service and dedication will not be forgotten.

SHOUTOUT TO THE ELSMERE POLICE DEPARTMENT!

The Blue Line Network has really enjoyed the interaction we’ve been seeing from the Elsmere Police Department’s page lately. They’ve definitely been stepping up their social media game and we love to see it!

It’s not always about breaking news, arrests, or crime. Sometimes it’s about having a little fun, showing some personality, and finding new ways to connect and engage with the community. That kind of interaction goes a long way!

Elsmere PD has been doing a great job of that. Keep up the great work!

The Blue Line Network sends its deepest condolences to the family of Captain Ronald “Shane” Hinson of the Cambridge Police Department, as they mourn this tremendous loss.

Captain Hinson dedicated more than 27 years to serving the City of Cambridge, Maryland. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to his friends, colleagues, and the entire Cambridge Police Department during this difficult time.

Thank you, Captain Hinson, for your many years of dedicated service to your community.

Never Forget Lieutenant Joseph Szczerba of the New Castle County Division of Police.

Today, we honor Lieutenant Joseph Szczerba of the New Castle County Division of Police, who made the ultimate sacrifice fifteen years ago.

In the early morning hours, Lieutenant Szczerba assisted fellow officers in searching for a disorderly individual near Penn Acres Park. He located the suspect at East Roosevelt Avenue and Fifthian Drive. Following a brief foot chase, a confrontation ensued. The suspect, armed with a knife, fatally injured Lieutenant Szczerba.

The suspect was promptly taken into custody by responding officers and was later convicted of First Degree Murder, along with 13 additional charges. On January 17, 2014, he was sentenced to two life terms of imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

Lieutenant Szczerba was posthumously promoted and awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery and dedication.

We will never forget his commitment, his sacrifice, and his lasting impact on our community. His legacy continues to inspire and guide us.

The Blue Line Network sends our prayers, gratitude, and support to everyone participating in today’s Delaware Law Enforcement Thank You Ride, and especially to the families and loved ones being honored and remembered.

Today, Thursday, September 10, 2026, riders come together in honor, support, remembrance, and service.

The day begins at DSP Troop 6 in Wilmington, with an Opening Ceremony at 7:20 AM honoring Cpl./1 Matthew “Ty” Snook, followed by the riders’ departure at 8:00 AM.

Later this morning, a ceremony will be held at the New Castle County Police Department, 3601 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, honoring Det. Christopher N. Skrobot. Riders are expected to arrive at 9:35 AM, with the ceremony beginning at 9:45 AM. All are welcome.

May God watch over every rider and everyone traveling alongside them today. May He grant them protection, strength, and safe passage throughout the entire ride. May He surround the families of our fallen first responders with comfort, love, and the knowledge that their loved ones’ service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

To the Delaware Law Enforcement Thank You Ride Association, we thank you for putting all your heart into such a beautiful event.

Congratulations on Your Retirement, K9 Axle!

Police Officer First Class Brittany Sigmund of the Salisbury Police Department is saying goodbye to an important chapter in her career as her longtime K9 partner, Axle, enters retirement.

The bond between a police officer and their K9 partner is something most people will never fully understand. For years, they train together, work together, protect their community together, and spend countless hours side by side. Your K9 partner isn’t simply with you during a shift, they become part of your everyday life and your family.

The Blue Line Network had the privilege of meeting PFC Sigmund and K9 Axle when they helped us at the Back the Blue event honoring Cpl. Keith Heacook, Delmar Police Department who was killed in the line of duty. We are grateful for their service and for the memories we have of seeing this incredible team together.

As we congratulate K9 Axle on a well-earned retirement, let us also remember the handler on the other end of that leash. For PFC Sigmund, adjusting to duty without the partner who has been by her side for so many years will undoubtedly be a major change.

K9 Axle, thank you for your years of loyal and dedicated service. May your retirement be filled with plenty of treats, belly rubs, long naps, and time with the person who has been beside you through it all.

And to PFC Brittany Sigmund, thank you for your dedication, sacrifice, and service, and for giving Axle a partner, handler, and family.
