To mark America’s 250th year, we invited notable Americans to select one transformative title from BPL's booklist and share why it still resonates today. BPL Chief Librarian Edwin Maxwell, chose Between the World and Me by
Ta-Nehisi Coates.
Regarding his selection Chief Librarian Maxwell adds:
"Toni Morrison called it 'required re-reading,' and she was right. Coates’ letter to his son is one of the most moving, honest explanations of what it means to be Black in America. To me and many others, Coates is this generation’s James Baldwin.' https://www.bklynlibrary.org/america-250/booklist/
