What Outdated Ecommerce Tactics Should Brands Stop Using Today?
During a recent episode of Agency & Brand Growth Weekly Live, Hamid Mahmood asked Umer Hadeed what ecommerce brands and marketers needed to rethink about the techniques they were still using from five or ten years ago.
He answered by highlighting how businesses approached AI and whether they were willing to make it part of their daily operations.
Umer said AI had evolved from a tool into an ecosystem. He explained that businesses needed to add an intelligent layer across their operations, including media buying, production, shipping, and customer service.
He also emphasized that business fundamentals still mattered. Capital, media, brand reputation, and sound decision making remained valuable, with AI offering another way to strengthen them.
One point stood out: deciding what not to do could be one of the most valuable decisions a business owner makes.
For ecommerce brands and marketers, the conversation offered a practical reminder to reassess familiar tactics and understand where AI could support their business.

A month later, here’s a quick recap from SUPERZOO 2026🐾
For anyone who missed our earlier updates, SUPERZOO is one of the biggest events in the pet industry, bringing together pet brands, retailers, service businesses, veterinary companies, manufacturers, distributors, and industry professionals from across the market.
This year, Software Pro Digital exhibited in Las Vegas, and our goal was simple: meet the people building the future of the pet industry and have real conversations around growth, innovation, technology, and customer experience.
We spoke with pet retailers, service businesses, product brands, founders, and operators about what is working in B2B and B2C growth today.
A big part of those conversations was around the full funnel.
Not just SEO.
Not just ads.
Not just social.
But how SEO, AEO, Google, Meta, ecommerce, websites, CRM, follow-up, retention, reputation, and sales all work together to create sustainable growth.
We also had some great discussions around what it really takes to scale a business 10X and beyond.
Growth is not only about generating more demand.
Leadership, systems, technology, customer experience, inventory, operations, and team accountability all have to grow with the business.
There were also a lot of conversations around AI and automation, especially how businesses can improve follow-up, bookings, customer communication, reporting, internal workflows, and day-to-day operations without losing the human side of the experience.
For pet product brands, we also talked about branding, ecommerce, retail presentation, packaging, fulfillment, and the complete customer experience around the product.
And of course, our team had a great time.
We met some amazing people, had meaningful conversations, saw a lot of innovation, and came back with new relationships, ideas, and opportunities.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Software Pro Digital booth and spent time with us.
Four weeks later, we are still excited about the conversations that started in Las Vegas and what can come from them next.
If we connected at SUPERZOO, we would be glad to keep the conversation going.
This week’s guest is Umer Hadeed Sultan, Serial Entrepreneur, E-commerce & Funnel Specialist, and Marketing Automation Strategist, with experience building and operating businesses across ecommerce, technology, digital growth, and entrepreneurship.
Umer is the Co-Founder & Partner of Digital Frontiersmen, Co-Founder & President of Aphrodite’s, and Managing Partner & COO of Digital Age Business, with experience founding and working across 15+ companies.
The conversation explores The Next E-commerce Funnel: AI, Intent, and Personalization, and how AI is changing the way ecommerce brands attract, understand, convert, and retain customers.
We’ll cover AI funnels, customer intent, SEO, AEO, AI search, Google and Meta, media buying, creative strategy, marketing automation, personalization, AI agents, and the technologies shaping the future of ecommerce marketing.

How Do You Review AI Work Without Slowing Down?
AI agents can produce documents, videos, and content in minutes. But if a human still has to check everything, is that speed actually helping you?
During a recent episode of Agency & Brand Growth Weekly, Hamid Mahmood asked Jonathan Foltz how founders and teams could keep up with validating everything AI produced, when reviewing its work often took longer than creating it.
Jonathan said the solution was to build a quality control step directly into every agent, automation, or workflow, a QA layer trained on your taste and standards.
He explained that the key was feeding it plenty of examples of what good looked like. The more examples it had, the closer the output would match what you wanted.
Jonathan described how an episode like theirs could be turned into a full YouTube video with descriptions, lower thirds, and thumbnails, plus 20 shorts from the best moments. Before anything went live, a final QA would compare the work against past examples, then present it for a quick human review of small changes like a word or a thumbnail before publishing.
His point was that AI could handle the volume, but a built-in QA process kept the quality where it needed to be.
If AI is producing more than your team can review, what does your quality control process look like?

What Can’t AI Agents Do for Founders Yet?
Can you tell an AI agent to “go make a million dollars” and expect it to build your business?
During a recent episode of Agency & Brand Growth Weekly, Hamid Mahmood asked Jonathan Foltz what founders expected AI agents to handle that they still could not do.
Jonathan said AI could not yet replace a founder’s vision for what they wanted to create and the value they wanted to bring to the world.
He explained that founders needed to act as operators, coordinating AI agents and human teams, providing specific instructions, and bringing in people whose strengths filled the gaps.
Jonathan also shared that while AI could be a powerful advisor, he believed creativity, intuition, and clear direction still needed to come from people. He warned that without that clarity, founders could move faster in the wrong direction while wasting time and resources.
As you give AI more responsibility, how clear are you about what you want it to accomplish?
