Project Sunshine
We deliver the healing power of play to children with medical needs through dedicated volunteers. and in four international locations.
Project Sunshine’s mission is to deliver the healing power of play to children with medical needs through trained and dedicated volunteers. For over 20 years, Project Sunshine volunteers have brought joy and play directly to pediatric patients through our network of medical facility and nonprofit partners across the country. Over 18,000 trained volunteers deliver programs that provide opportunities for creative expression, socialization, intellectual stimulation, and sensory integration to more than 175,000 pediatric patients and families each year. Our unique volunteer engagement model allows community groups, colleges, and corporations to create moments of connection with pediatric patients, caregivers, and families providing child and family-centered, play-based programming. Project Sunshine partners with 475 medical facilities across the U.S.

😎 Sunshine and smiles 😎 - two of our favorite things!
It’s been a busy summer for the wonderful volunteers at Blackstone in NYC. They offered their support at multiple events over the past couple of months. From packing an impressive 2,900 Puppet Pal and Sensory activity kits in-office to bringing Here to Party fun in-hospital where they shared healing play in the form of slime, games, and crafts with pediatric patients and families.
Such impactful volunteerism delivers many moments of joy to children on a medical journey, creating positive memories. We’re so grateful!
No better way to spend a rainy Monday than with a little bit of Mahjong!
We were so happy to play for a bit after the stormy NYC weekend, showing exactly what we aim to do at Project Sunshine—deliver the healing power of play! Special thank you to everyone who came out to this year's event.

Time is almost up!
We're into the final four days of this uniquely exquisite (and more importantly, mission-centric) hand-crafted, beaded bracelet that supports the healing power of play for pediatric patients!
How does it do that you ask? (Great question!) For every bracelet sold, Little Words Project will donate $5 to Project Sunshine (love that for us.) This means you can look great and do great with just one purchase. It’s a literal win-win!
Thank you to Little Words Project Little Words Project and for teaming up to make this a reality. And much love to everyone who already has placed an order.
Don’t miss your chance to show off your belief in pediatric resilience, community, healing and, of course, play. Order yours today: https://vist.ly/5eqhr

It's easy to underestimate the healing when you haven't experienced it.
Whether it’s a little laughter or an impromptu puppet show, play can easily brighten anyone’s day. This is especially critical for kids experience a medical journey.
Liv says it best: “After I get poked in my hand or my wrist, it hurts...I feel better when I get to see Project Sunshine.”
A gift to Project Sunshine can provide even more kids like Liv with play programming, making tough treatment days feel a little more like a playdate.

Wanna meet someone super cool?
Enter Liv.
Liv lives with a chronic illness. That means regular treatments, regular appointments, regular needle pokes (boo) that no kid should have to endure.
But here's what we've learned: the ouch doesn't hurt as much when there's a game to play or a craft to make (yay!) When a Project Sunshine volunteer is right there, turning a hospital visit into a playdate, Liv isn't just a patient anymore, she's a kid, having fun again.
That's the POWER OF PLAY. It doesn't erase the hard parts of Liv's day, it makes them easier to get through, one giggle or bucket of glitter slime at a time.
A gift to Project Sunshine helps bring play programming to kids like Liv and thousands, so treatment days feel a little lighter and a lot more like childhood.
Liv can't wait for "someday." She needs it today.

We had an absolutely thrillifying afternoon yesterday when WICKED on Broadway’s very own Elphaba (aka Keri René Fuller) paid a magical visit to longtime project Sunshine partner, NYU Langone Hassenfeld Children's Hospital.
There was much rejoicifying during her visit as she hosted a special version of WICKED Bingo where about 30 patients tuned in from their rooms to play! She also shared some fun facts about the Broadway musical and finished her visit going to patient rooms, handing out prizes to the winners!
Thank you to all involved for this special gravity-defying day and your efforts to encouragerize everyone to support the healing power of play.

NFP FTWWW!
Big thanks to the NFP, an Aon company Austin marketing team who recently gathered to assemble 300 Puppet Pal Activity Kits. With their support, hundreds of kids will now have access to creative play while they navigate their medical journey making this a win-win-win for Project Sunshine, NFP and the Austin community.
NFP has been supporting our mission of bringing the healing power of play to those in need for nearly 15 years.

This month, our blog put a sunshine spotlight on fabulous partner: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, D.C. and their new Community Engagement & Volunteer Manager, Hannah Morgan.
Hannah is no stranger to the Project Sunshine mission having volunteered with us during her time at Georgetown University. She talks about her time as a volunteer and giving back to children and families in need.
Our partnership with RMHC of Greater Washington, D.C. keeps growing in wonderful ways. From dedicated community and college volunteers who bring play to the families in their care to organizations like Expion Health who hosted a "Christmas in July" celebration this summer.
