GDS, Camp Excel, and I were selected as a Finalist for the People’s Choice Award at the Child Mind Institute's 2018 Change Maker Awards. Our nomination was submitted by Gary Shulman, MS. Ed, a leader in the field of Child Development and Children with Disabilities and Special Needs. Gary Shulman wrote, "It has been my great pleasure to have known the dedicated professional Dr. Gary Altheim for nearly 30 years. I have witnessed his unwavering dedication to saving the lives of vulnerable teens who live in the Washington Heights section of NYC through his various support programs. He believes that each young person can succeed and with his guidance and support, he has fostered the positive growth and development of countless youth who would have fallen by the wayside.
